Industrialized glass making began in the Czech Republic, formerly known as Czechoslovakia, in the early 15th century. Local production throughout the country was characterized by many small workshops that specialized in the blowing, engraving, cutting and the painting of glass and crystal. Bohemian glass was originally thought to be magical, as was Prague considered a magical city. Bohemian glass has been famous worldwide since the 18th century, although local production of glass actually started in the 14th century. Bohemian glass is still very popular today and is used extensively throughout the jewelry making industry.
The end of each of these hair sticks is adorned with a scrumptious gold plated Bohemian Montana blue crystal rhinestone glitter bead, nestled into a gold plated filigree bead cap. A gold plated Montana blue rhinestone rondelle occupies the center position. A Swarovski Montana Blue bicone crystal, topped with a gold plated filigree bead cap, sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the hair jewelry design. The hair sticks are dyed black bone, finished with a glittering holographic special effect lacquer that flashes a multicolor rainbow of tiny sparkles, under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind LongLocks hair accessories measure 5 5/8" long from end to end.
