There are only three special order versions of this design available.
West German glass artists have been making spectacular crystal and glass beads since the end of the 13th century and almost all glass beads found in jewelry made from the early 18th century until the first half of the 20th century were made in West Germany. Glass beads were smuggled out of West Germany in the mid 20th century, when the country was divided between east and west, with the help of border guards who would mark West German shipments "East Germany" to ensure their safe passage. Today vintage West German beads are eagerly sought after and coveted among collectors.
This LongLocks IndividualiStix hair jewelry design is done in the LongLocks GlimmerStix style. The end of the hair pin is adorned with a gorgeous vintage West German white and sparkling bronze aventurine spiral teardrop lampwork bead, nestled into a gold plated filigree bead cap. A Swarovski Smoked Topaz bicone crystal, topped with a gold plated filigree bead cap, sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the hair jewelry design. The hair stick is crafted of bone, carved into an elegant twist and hand painted in satiny bronze under layers of protective clear enamel. This one-of-a-kind LongLocks hair pin measures 5 7/8" long from end to end.
