A Strange Question
Jul 18th, 2005 at 3:00am

I like to read about astrology and in one book that I was reading it said that if you cut your hair yoursself on the eve of a new moon that it will grow faster.  Has anybody else heard this?  Or anything like it?  And do you think it has any basis in fact?  I know people who swear cutting your hair on a full moon will make it grow slower.  For those of us scientifically inclined what a science fair project!!

[Moved here so others can pitch in with their comments.]

There are many who believe that cutting hair during certain phases of the moon will either increase its growth rate, or decrease it.  I'm sure someone here will pitch in with the site that has the "rules" and dates.

I think you may be referring to thislunar chart.
I've seen it mentioned in various boards, but I can't say I follow that method.
Hope this helps.

Thank you Greek_Lady!  That is exactly what I was referring to.  I knew I could depend on someone finding it for me!  Cheesy

Well, I know nothing about astrology...But I cannot see  scientifically speaking, how hair could grow faster from the roots by cutting the ends. Which is also my argument when I  someone says that I need to trim my hair often, so it will grow faster. I become extrememly upset when I hear that from people!   Shocked

I think I will give it a try just out of scientific curiosity.  I will keep posts in my hair journal.  Honestly with the length of my hair I have nothing to lose.

I have heard that before and even come across a few long hair'd ladies who follow that, though I can't really say if it's true or not. Astrology can be fun and I think it can hold some truth, I'm not so sure about this though.

I will have to try this, especially the chart to retard hair growth for waxing my legs.  Anything to slow it down!

I don't know about the hair/lunar connection.  But what I can tell you is that my dear old granny, God rest her soul, who was born in 1900 swore by, and always planted by, the phases of the moon and generally had excellent results.  Now it may have just been coincidence, good soil or her green thumb.  But who knows?   Smiley  Couldn't hurt to try, right!

Heheh once again I was searching the web for something completely unrelated to this topic, and found something on this topic.  Scroll to around the middle of this page - there is a small section called "Cutting Your Hair By The Full Moon".
