Title: Longlocks is as lovely as ever
Post by Anais Satin on Jun 9th, 2004 at 5:24pm
Hey Folks

This is one of the most impressive hair sites on the net! (I'm sure we all agree on that) The Longlocks Salon is, besides extremely addictive and beautifully designed, a very comfortable place to be. I've only been a member for a few months, but everyone here is just so warm and welcoming. There's something different about people with long hair--I still haven't figured it out yet.

Here for a spiritual/emotional retreat, I spend most of my day in complete silence. Just like that Franciscan monk commercial, thank goodness my silence doesn't apply to the web! It's also a joy to read posts from many people all over the world. Germany, Bangladesh, Great Britain, Aussie, USA, etc. Because I live in "Bill Gates' Backyard" (as opposed to Martha's Vineyard??), I don't meet much else besides squirrels (They don't have names yet. any ideas?).

Thanks ladies (and gents)! Long live Longlocks

;D ;D ;D ;D

I've decided that people with long hair look at life a bit differently than most.  They appreciate what comes naturally, march to their own beat and tend to be more open to different concepts.  THAT's why we all get along so well.   ;D

I was recently mentioning to a real life friend, some the "friends" that I have made via the long hair boards that I frequent.  She considers herself to be very liberal and open, but in reality she is a typical white, middle class, parttime working mom with limited exposure to life outside of her tiny community.  I probably fit that same description to the most part, except for my long hair.

When I told her of some of the traits of my virtual friends, she was shocked!  She could not understand how I could consider people who are gay, bi-sexual, or transgender, or have body piercing in places I won't even mention, or have tattos covering their body a "friend".  When I tried to explain that on the internet we first get to know each other for what we have in common (hair), and get comfortable with them and make our initial judgements about a person based on the common grounds instead of jumping to conclusions about a person because of other traits.  This can allow you to be more accepting (or tolerant) of behaviors or traits that you might otherwise be uncomfortable with.

I have enjoyed "meeting" people from all around the world, who have a variety of talents and interests, are of all ages from 12 to 75, who are from a wide range of religious and economic backgrounds.  For the most part, everyone has been pleasant and kind.  I feel I have been able to expand my knowledge base significantly because of these experioences.

I appreciate all of you and enjoy chatting with you.

If we all just relax and let each other be who we want to be, life can be good! And we might even learn a thing or two.  8)  Hopefully LongLocks is the place to do this.

I could not agree more!  This place  is a safe haven, a place to come home to, a place to share laughter and tears and all the emotions that go along with being a part of life.
I don't interact with a lot of people in RL, so the people here have become a very special part of my life.  Even when I'm not posting, I'm always reading new posts.

I want to welcome all the newbees!  I haven't gotten all of you welcomed individually, but it is so cool 8) to see all of you here!  You will love it!

Bikerbraid, you have made such an important point about the diversity of the human race.  Being different, and having the ability to be different is what makes all of us so wonderful.  I am surrounded by such an amazing mixture of people in my real life, it's like a kaleidoscope of interests, talents and abilities.  Some of them do consist of bi-sexual, homosexual, tattooed and pierced folks, and some of them are just your normal, run-of-the-mill people.  But this is not the basis on which I make my judgements, in my book you are either a good egg or a bad egg, not "wierd" or "unconventional", or "normal".  Unfortunately so many people are blinded by what they see on the outside of a person that they will never get to see their inner-beauty, nor do I think they know what inner beauty actually is.  That's what makes this site so wonderful, that we all know each other for our inner-beauty, not what we look like sitting on the other end of the wire typing away!  And as you said BB, if we could just allow ourselves to sit back and relax a little, you know, put our guards down, we might actually learn a thing or two!  Different is not always bad... :)

This is the first long hair site I ever stumbled upon, and I still think it is by far the most  pleasing to the eye-hands down.    I really enjoy visiting!

It is indeed a wonderful site. I've been a member of many forums and internet communities over the years and this has, by far, one of the best atmosheres.
The people here are all friendly and welcoming, no matter gender or age.
Questions are encouraged, answered and discussed, making it a good place to seek out information on things we may not know and share what we do.
It has many good links and quite a bit of information for the curious ones who stumble into it.
The site is wonderfully organized and kept up with, not to mention having a clean, easy-to-navigate style and colors gentle on the eyes.

It's really something special. :)

This is the first long hair message board site I stumbled over too, and the only one I feel comfortable following for some reason.
I do appreciate how the focus is primarily maintained on long hair so we don't go off on tangents that push the wrong buttons, and everyone is interested in helping each other and supporting each other.
Not having done chat rooms or message boards before I was a bit leary at first, but you guys are terrific mentors for us newbies :-*

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Susan has wanted this to be a comfortable, informative message board.  I am aware of other boards, and even participate at several others, as I know some you do as well.  Some are controversial, some are fast moving, some are very slow moving.  I hope we can keep up a comfortable pace, provide good information and be supportive of all who wish to grow long hair.

We are open to ideas and suggestions.  Please let me know either via public or private message of any ideas  you might have for the message board and/or site in general.

This site is slightly unique in that it is tied directly to retail sales.  This probably "scares off" some people, if they feel they can only participate if they purchase Long Locks Sticks, but as you all know, this is not true.

Long Live Long Hair!
