Hello!
Aug 29th, 2008 at 1:17pm

Hi!
Occasional lurker, just registered.  I have curly light brown hair that is fine and thin.

<~~ A friend of mine took this picture for me in December, right before I cut 12" off. It was 36" at the time, and I fear that's likely terminal length for me. I had wanted to be able to sit on it naturally but it just doesn't seem to grow that long. :(

It's currently ~27", which means my hair is growing back at pretty much the "standard" rate of 1/2" per month. (And if I understand correctly, if 36" really is terminal, that would mean I have an anagen growth cycle of about 6years, again right in the "normal" range. Meh!)

Fortunately, you can't really tell in the picture how thin, damaged and "crunchy" the ends were (thank you, fora members for your posts on silicone products! I've learned a lot). I'm probably going to keep it trimmed about this length for now and try to let it thicken some with better care and vitamins. Then maybe if that works I'll try to push the length again. ^_^

Nice to meet all of you!

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the compliments! *blushes*

Re Sakina:
I haven't found any cone-free products that do as well on my hair as my old Pantene, so I swapped to a lighter-cone Pantene line and I'm still using some 'cone products. I think my hair will be okay with some, but I had been overloading it. I'm also not shampooing it daily like I was so right now I'm alternating between the Pantene stuff and some organic products. Feedback welcome!

Shampoo:
Pantene Pro-V Shampoo Daily Moisture Renewal (some 'cones)
Mill Creek Botanicals Jojoba Shampoo (organic, cone-less)

Conditioner:
Pantene Pro-V Conditioner Daily Moisture Renewal (some 'cones)
Giovanni 50:50 balanced hair remoisturizer (organic, cone-less)

Oil - I dropped my old hot oil ritual completely in favor of straight jojoba oil.

Leave-in/anti-frizz - Tresemmé Conditioning Leave-in creme (some cones)

Question: How are the Daily Moisture Renewal S&C working for you?
I used DMR products exclusively for several years, but a few years ago, they changed the formula and they began to leave my hair really greasy. One wash with DMR shampoo made it look like I hadn't washed my hair in a week  Tongue  and I came to realize that all of Pantene's opaque shampoos did this.
Like you, I have fine, thin hair, so I was just curious whether the DMR line had this same effect on your hair or if I'm an isolated case. I'm a die-hard Pantene addict, but can only use their transparent shampoos. Any experience with this yourself or no?

I like the DMR, part of the reason I keep it is because I haven't found an organic that compares.  But my hair is naturally pretty dry, and probably not quite as fine as yours - you had the "cobweb tresses" description right? I remembered the phrase because I thought that was such lovely imagery. ^_^

Cobweb tresses, yup. That was me.  Grin  I have heard that curly hair is drier than straight (I'm a 1aFi), so maybe that's why DMR works better for you. That's cool. It definitely seems to be kind to your curls.  Wink
