Hello at last
Sep 4th, 2008 at 8:10am

I discovered you a while ago, but have only just got around to joining & posting (sorry!)

I'm mum to 2 girls with never cut hair (one mid thigh(8) & the other waist length(6)) & a teenage son who is growing his hair, but denies he's trying catch up with his sisters! My own hair is BSL.

Just recently DD1 decided she wanted to cut her hair to shoulder length, then at the last minute hesitated & said she wanted it BSL. So I said we'd wait until she was sure & now she's decided not to cut after all! Phew! She's a bit fed up of people constantly commenting on it & of it getting in the way when she does gym, so we've figured out how to fasten it up in a half length plait so its out of the way & now she's happy as anything.

So, hello!

Edited to add: I'm not insomniac & posting at 5am, just in the UK.  Wink

Welcome to LongLocks Salon!  You and your family's hair sound wonderful!  Glad your daughter has give the cut a second thought.  I usually tell people to wait 2 weeks before making a drastic change to their hair, then if they still want to proceed, wait another 2 weeks.  After 4 weeks, then go ahead if they still want the change.  You can't paste the hair back on after it has been cut!

I look forward to getting to know you better!

That's what we'd done, but even so it took me getting out the scissors & being about to start cutting to make it suddenly seem 'real' to her & then she got cold feet. I'm so glad I was going to cut it myself, because I think if we'd gone to a hairdressers she might have felt too shy to change her mind like that.

Welcome!  I know about the hair being annoying for gym thing.  I do ballet/modern dance, and I usually have to use buns and headbands to keep my hair out of my way.  But it's worth it!
