Today, I got a 40.00 check in the mail for doing online surveys.  I thought I'd post about it in case anyone was interested in signing up.

I only do surveys through Mysurvey.com, which I've been doing for a few years now...maybe 5.   I tried another survey company a while back...don't remember what it's called.  Anyway, I was with them long enough to get paid once through PayPal, but by signing up with them, I got so much email spam I had to shut my account.  My email and the survey account.  Mysurvey is legitimate.

They basically want to know which products you buy, which stores you shop at, etc.  You can also decline to take part in any survey and it won't affect your memebership in any way. The fun surveys in my opinion, are the ones that ask your opinion on items that aren't even on the market yet.  You have to agree not to discuss those products with others, but I think it's fun to see products that no one knows about yet.  Sometimes, they'll even mail new products for you to test, which can be pretty cool too.

The surveys are typically about 5 minutes long and 10 points each.  However, there are also what I refer to as "feeler" surveys that are 10 points, but then based on your answers, they'll invite you to take another longer survey which is usually worth a few hundred points.  

Every 10,000 points is worth 10.00.  Once you reach 10,000 points, you can either redeem them for cash or prizes, you can donate your 10.00 to charity or you can let the points add up and redeem them later.  I never paid attention to how long it takes to get every 10,000 points.  Sometimes you get lots of surveys back to back and sometimes you don't.  You never know.  I actually like doing the surveys for fun and because I'm online anyway, but overtime it does add up.  After getting my check today, I logged in to see my rewards.  Over about 5 years, I've redeemed 18,400 points in both cash and charity donations.  I had no idea it was that much. Pretty cool for a little extra spending cash.

You can sign up directly on their site Mysurvey.com.  You can also sign up other memebers of your household willing to participate in surveys, under the same account.  If more than one household memeber is signed up, they'll send surveys either for anyone in the household to fill out or they'll specify who the survey is for.  All of the points for your household go into one pool however, I believe that there is a primary account name and that is who the checks get made out to.

So 1,000 surveys = $10. If each survey takes 5 minutes, that would mean you've invested 5,000 minutes (over 83 hours). That's about 2 weeks of full time work - a pay period - to earn $10.

I'm not pushing this, it doesn't matter to me who does what.  Of course, it isn't a substitution for a job or something done merely "to earn".  I do them because I'm online a lot anyway and I enjoy them, but getting the extra cash or donating it, for me, is nice too.   When I noticed how doing the surveys could add up over awhile, I thought I'd share.
