Dichroic glass is created using layers of metallic oxides. The beautiful colorplay for which these beads are known occurs when light strikes the glass. Every piece of dichroic glass displays three colors: a color that is reflected, a color that is transmitted, and a reflective color that is viewable from a 45-degree angle. These properties allow the colors in this spectacular glass to change as light hits it from different angles.
The end of each of these glittering hair accessories is adorned with a luscious opalescent dichroic glass bead, nestled into a gold plated filigree bead cap. A gold plated crystal aurora borealis rhinestone rondelle occupies the center position. A rare vintage Swarovski Crystal Aurora Borealis tapered crystal, topped with a gold plated filigree bead cap, sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the hair jewelry design. The hair sticks are elegantly carved bone, hand painted in a glittering opalescent finish, under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind LongLocks hair accessories measure 5 3/4" long from end to end.
