Dichroic glass is created using layers of metallic oxides. The beautiful colorplay for which these beads are known occurs when light strikes the glass. Every piece of dichroic glass displays three colors: a color that is reflected, a color that is transmitted, and a reflective color that is viewable from a 45-degree angle. These properties allow the colors in this spectacular glass to change as light hits it from different angles.
The end of each of these hair accessories is adorned with an incomparable encased silver hand crafted dichroic bead by the master of dichroic glass lampworking herself, Paula Radke, nestled into a Turkish sterling silver filigree bead cap. A silver plated crystal aurora borealis rhinestone rondelle occupies the center position. A Swarovski Comet Argent bicone crystal, with a spectacular rhodium finish that sparkles like sterling silver, topped with an ornate Turkish sterling silver filigree bead cap, sits below. Silver plated heishi beads complete the hair jewelry design. The hair sticks are elegantly carved bone, hand painted in a glittering silver holographic finish, under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind hair accessories measure 5 7/8" long from end to end.
