Dichroic glass is created using layers of metallic oxides. The beautiful colorplay for which these beads are known occurs when light strikes the glass. Every piece of dichroic glass displays three colors: a color that is reflected, a color that is transmitted and a reflective color that is viewable from a 45-degree angle. These properties allow the colors in this spectacular glass to change as light hits it from different angles.
Grab 'em quick before I change my mind, these are extremely yummy! The end of each of these hair pins is adorned with a seafoam green, peridot and gold dichroic glass cushion bead, nestled into a gold plated filigree bead cap. A gold plated blue zircon rhinestone rondelle occupies the center position. A rare vintage Swarovski Peridot Aurora Borealis teardrop crystal, topped with a vintage gold plated bead cap, sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the hair jewelry design. The hair sticks are hand carved bone finished in ultra pearlescent gossamer swirls of blue zircon and peridot green under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind hair accessories measure 5 5/8" from end to end.
