Venetian art glass beads are made in Venice, Italy on the island of Murano. The beads seen today can be traced to the 11th century, when the beadmakers were executed if they attempted to leave the island with their precious beadmaking secrets! The end of each hairstick is adorned with a vintage olivine green Venetian art glass bead with an abundance of sparkling gold aventurine captured within, nestled into a gold plated filigree bead cap. Another vintage olivine green and gold Venetian glass bead sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the design. The hair sticks are intricately hand engraved bone, finished in satiny olivine green with an intense gold flash, under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind hair accessories measure 5 5/8" from end to end.
