Boro beads are created by lampwork bead artists using borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a specialized variety of glass that is far stronger than the glass typically used in bead making. The organic palette of borosilicate glass is described as "living color" that can be manipulated and shaded by the bead artist, which results in spectacular beads that encase layers of whispy, ever changing hues and multidimensional textures.
Although these fabulous artist-made beads are gorgeous in a two-dimensional photograph, they are phenomenally more stunning when you actually hold them in your hand. The end of each of these sparkling hair accessories is adorned with a hand crafted gossamer-swirled ruby red and opal boro bead, hand crafted by renowned bead artist Brendan Blake, nestled into an ornate vermeil (genuine 22kt. gold over sterling silver) filigree bead cap. Opalite glass bicone beads occupy the center position. Swarovski Ruby Aurora Borealis 2X bicone crystals, topped with vermeil bead caps, sit below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the design. The hair sticks are elegantly hand carved bone, dyed black and finished in ruby red special effect metallic pigment that flashes stunning iridescence with movement, under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind hair accessories measure 5 7/8" from end to end.
