I have two questions. The first one is regarding how to dilute shampoo. I've heard that you should dilute your shampoo with water to make it less harmful to your hair, but does anyone know how much water should be used to dilute the shampoo?

Another question, I've heard some long-haired people on other sites use shampoo only on their scalp and conditioner only on their length. I follow the part about the conditioner, but I use shampoo to wash all of my hair. Is this wrong?

I found that shampooing the entire length of my hair all the time dried the ends.  I shampoo only the head, but let the shampoo rinse through the length, then condition from the ears down.  Some people don't even use shampoo, they use only conditioner to clean their hair.

But would conditioner be sufficient enough to clean the hair?

Surprizingly enough, there can be detergents in conditioner.  I have not tried this method myself, but I know of several people who use conditioner only and might shampoo only once a month.

You can dilute shampoo by either adding a bit of water to your hand after pouring the shampoo in, or applying the shampoo to your hair and then quickly ducking under the shower spray.  I use both methods meself :)

I will have to start diluting my shampoo as my hair gets very dry in this all-year-round hot, humid weather, and I don't want any further damage being done to it. I use a lot of conditioner and it is soft and I *finally* got rid of those annoying split ends! Must have been the last 1/4 inch trim - cut off all the old dye.
