Title: Greying Hair Post by Lorrie on Jan 16th, 2004 at 8:15pm
I am 43 years old, and I have long dark hair that is greying. I would like to keep my long hair, even as it continues to grey. My question is about the condition of my hair. It looks somewhat damaged, but when I look close, I cant find a single split end. My hair though, is showing a lot of breakage. My hair looks fairly thick, but it seems to be loosing its luster. I know that part of this is just the aging process, but I am not sure what to do. My hair feels quite soft to the touch, but it does not look as silky or as weighty as it once was. Parts of it look almost fly away or dry. What are you suggestions? Will I have to cut it, or can I try to trim it every few months, use conditioners and hot oils, and treat it delicately? Is this something that I just have to learn to live with?

I'm a bit closer to your age ;) and also notice that the ends of my hair show "age". I have found that putting a light amount of jojoba oil on the length of my hair each night before braiding/bunning my hair helps keep my hair soft. I also do a vinegar rinse 1 - 2 times a month to help restore the shine.
By the way.....welcome! |
