Slightly tongue in cheek (slightly).... I think I am right in saying that I can deduct the purchase of some clothes for business use (e.g. suits etc). So I am wondering - if I have an important business meeting and want to get a stylist to take care of my hair for me rather than try and do it myself - can I deduct this expense. For example - I am considering going back to the salon next Monday and getting them fix my hair into a French braid (which Amanda was able to do, but I can't) before I go into a meeting with a client. It looked pretty good and maybe better than a half pony. Would this be tax deductible - does anyone know.

You need to talk to your accountant about this. AFAIK, most work clothes are not deductible.

Yeah, I think that the only way you would get away with that was if you were in an industry (beauty, showbiz, etc.) that required you be groomed beyond what a person can do in their own bathroom.  I'd be real interested in hearing what an accountant has to say on that one.

Uniforms worn for work can be tax deductible.  The clothing typically cannot be worn for street wear or anything but work to be tax deductible.  Entertainers can deduct their stage clothes, for example.  A tux can be deductible if it is considered a uniform for the job.
