Title: Length Question Post by Kate on Mar 10th, 2004 at 11:18am
I've noticed mention of "classic length" hair. How long is this? I always thought it was waist-length. Are there any other terms for specific hair lengths?

Classic length is usually just to the bottom of your rear. I usually think of it as just hitting the chair, if the person were sitting.
BSL (bra strap length) is to the chest strap of a bra. Tailbone is to the tailbone. There are others that are used, but they are usually self-explainatory. At most of the hair sites that I visit, measuring the hair begins at the front hairline, goes over the top of the head and down to the ends. If your hair is curly, some will measure the length with the curl pulled out as well as the natural length with the curl. |

Well, classic length is a bit longer than seat length, which I consider to be tailbone length. Let's experiment to find out. (You may want to do this at home instead of at work, LOL.) Sit on your chair. Reach back. Your tailbone should be right at or just above the seat, right? Hair at this length doesn't get caught under your bum, which is what happens if your hair is classic length. Hmmm, now I have to revise my opinion on what is the quintessential "fun length." Now I think it's at tailbone length, rather than classic length. Sitting on your hair is no fun. :P Jennifer Eve |

I think my brain quit functioning on this one. Bottom of the rear, WOULD be long enough to sit on and not just to the seat. I know better than that :-[ Thanks for the clarification Jennifer. |
