Title: GREAT writers HAVE to have GREAT hair! Post by giddalti on Jul 21st, 2004 at 11:45pm
Hi,
I am a new member. The reason I joined this group is because I'm a struggling writer, and I've decided that to become a GREAT writer, one has to have really GREAT hair. Think about it ... Mark Twain (wild white mop and luscious mustache), Shakespeare (a virile Vandyke), Charles Dickens (those coy curls), Lord Byron (what tempting tresses) ... I could go on and on. After studying the masters, I decided the only difference between them and the ordinary scribbler is HAIR -- all the GREAT writers had GREAT signature hairdos. So, here I am. I lay my locks at your feet. As soon as I can cultivate GREAT hair, I'm SURE I will become a GREAT writer. Here's what you've got to work with. I have very thin, fine hair that is wavy-curly. It doesn't look thin because of the curliness, but it is. I love to wear it long; when wet, it's point touches my waist. I'd love to grow it longer, but it doesn't seem to grow like it used to when I was in my twenties (I'm now 44). So, I'm open to signature hairdo ideas. I'd like to get going on this famous author bit as soon as possible. It's not easy being a starving writer, but it sure beats being a starving writer with bad hair. Hairs to ya, Julie • ~ U |

CURLS!! Glorious curls! Work with your curls (especially since they mask how thin your hair is). The simple guide to long hair is to pamper your hair. Treat it like silk, be very gentle with it.
Good luck with your writing. I hope to be able to read some of your work soon! |

You know.. I never thought of that before. Many great writers have great hair, and I should add that to my hair motivation list. Speaking of which, that needs to be typed up and posted sometime....

Another poor aspiring writer here, but with many years' less experience and pathetically straight tresses. ;)
Yes, sprouting good ideas and sprouting good hair absolutely go hand in hand. You gotta have a good look for those back-flap author profiles, after all. 8) I look forward to sharing many hair and writing adventures (and misadventures!) with you. What kind of writing do you do? Got any samples for us? Another hairy heroine of the written word: Jo March in Little Women. Until she chopped it off, of course... :'(But at least it was for a very good cause. ;) |
