Title: Hello!
Post by Valerie on Sep 26th, 2004 at 1:45am
Hello Everyone!

I have never found a better hair site than this one.  No matter how late or tired I am, I always have to read the new posts.

As for myself, my hair is finally to the top of my hips and is 33.5 inches long measuring from the center hairline @ my forehead.  The length of my hair is blond, chemically bleached and sun bleached.  The roots of my hair are dirty blond.  My hair has some wave to it, medium thickness and coarse.

I deep condition with olive oil, honey and an egg (to get the 2 to mix) at least once a month and I try for once a week.  I'm always searching for new products.

I prefer to braid my hair and like to spend time trying out new braids.  But for work lately my hair has just been going up in a bun for convenience.  Since I've found this site I've started using Leia's swirly bun on a regular basis and the knot which I didn't realize my hair was long enough for yet.

Well that was a lot longer than I intended.

Have a great night!

Valerie

Welcome Valerie!

It sounds like we have similar hair habits; I also love honey and eggs and braids and Leia's swirly bun. ;) My hair is also about the same length as yours, only brown.

Is your bleached hair old growth, or are you still bleaching it? If so, stop!! It's one of the worst things you can do to your hair. I believe there are other healthier ways of lightening hair, but since I'm a brunette myself I'll leave that to the resident blondes.  ;)

Anyhoo, I'm glad to meet you and look forward to posting with you. Welcome to LongLocks!

Hi!  :D

Sounds like your hair is about the same length as mine only mine is black (chemically black  ;)  ) I have been here a couple of weeks and have been getting some great ideas for different ways to wear my hair. Uptil now I usually put it into a ponytail but am now trying out some new styles.  ;D

Welcome! I'm glad you like my swirly bun! I wear it regularly too. I like olive oil, honey, and eggs too (but not all mixed together!) It's nice to meet you!

Hi Cairn!

I haven't bleached it for a year and a half.  I still don't know what possessed me to do it, except that we were snowed in for 3 days and were a little bored.  I thought I was going to lose all my hair after that, it felt so terrible.  But one olive oil and honey treatment that same night and it was softer than ever before.

I think my natural color is turning more brown than dark blond which I like.

Good to meet you!

Hi Autumn!

I thought I was pretty hair savvy until I found this site, and then I realized how much more was out there!

Always amazing what a little honey and oil can do for you hair, isn't it?  ;)

I've heard of quite a few people who used to be blonde but went darker after a dye job. My hair was very blonde when I was young, and is now straight brown. But I've also never dyed.

Hiya Valerie! I'm enjoyin the posts you'll left around the site. I wish my hair was down to my hips!!

I'm gonna try the olive oil, honey, and egg recipe on my hair. It sounds really good...where did you get that recipe from?

Hi Rua!

I found the olive oil and honey recipe on some magazine's site but can't find it back.  Then I read on livejournals long hair community about adding an egg to it so the olive oil and honey mix together.  It makes it a thousand times easier to apply.
