Title: hello everyone
Post by styg on Nov 11th, 2004 at 10:44am
i've been reading nice stuff in here for quite a while (several weeks, i have troubles to lurk for ages without uttering a word!)  ;D
so well, thought it was time to finally register! (and by those nice sticks whenever i feel i didn't spend an incredible amount of money yet for someone who doesn't have a job!)

i hear you thinking the hair the hair!! well it's not as impressive as some people's here. after seeing loads of great pictures on long hair sites, i got extra boosted to let them grow longer than i ever had before. let's say i've been growing them actually since some great f****** hairdresser cut my waist length hair to my shoulders around five years ago (i went for a little layers, she said it was impossible on such long hair  ::) )
since then i let my hair grow again, had several more haircuts (deep layers done by razor, i liked the result) but ones you're reaching waist length i just think the ends look too thin. so, i am one of those poor people who doesn't only want longer hair, but also has to get rid of those bloody layers (still about 4 inches to grow out, not counting the way shorter front locks).

never measured them. my hair is slightly wavy and about normal in structure (before i started dying them 10 years ago i would have found them rather straight and fine, dying them gave them more body). they are dark brown.

and myself, i am a belgian (flemish if you have any clue what i am talking about) living in france, which makes for huge port costs to pay on all that american merchandise
:-[
i consider myself a retired student he he. i don't know if i should work in some lab (i did life sciences, biotechnologie) or start painting like my boy friend. both require pinned up hair  ;)

I absolutely cringed when I read that part! I too have been victim to the infamous bad cuts of certain stylists...though not quite as drastic as yours. Well done on the endurance of growing your hair despite all of that!

A Big welcome to ye!

;D

thanx  ;D
strangely i never really thought about growing it longer, i just found it hard to find good hairdressesrs (for layers that would be people who actually know how to handle razors, layers done with anything else ends up looking so weather girlie  ::) )
so i prolonged and prolonged the times without any trims. the last time i went to the hairdressers was 14 months ago (i so regret that, i would have had hip length hair now!). but well, by that time i still liked those layers a lot. i hadn't cut my hair in 2 years (no trims at all, just split hunting on regular basis), that's how much i like hairdressers.
but then this year i found that the ends started to look like a silly little rat tail so decided to grow those layers out since i kind of like the long hair.  so over the summer and this month i must have chopped off at least 12 cm (nearly 5 inches) with a method some nice person mentioned on this board  8)

Welcome styg, it's so nice to *meet* you! ;D  So what length does that leave your hair now?  Your hair sounds very pretty, I look forward to any hair advice that you'll have to share with us, I am ALWAYS searching out new hair-do ideas, so if you have any...don't keep them a secret! :-X  LOL

hello!
well, seems me needs to go shop for a new meter ... you people measure from front hairline right? (personally i think the only way to measure that would make sense is measuring the person and the height to wear the hair comes, and then substracting the second from the first. otherwise it's not comparable to other people (skull dimensions and such) ... never mind, i am supposed to be a scientist  ;D

Styg, you're a crack-up! (I work wth scientists, this is so cute and so like them) Also since I am growing out layers, my mind was working in a similar way...
I am very glad that your hair is coming back after the evil stylist disaster.  Welcome!  :D

ah yes, i might not be working as a scientist (and don't know if i ever will actually ... no interesting jobs in europe and certainly not in my place).
i think the method used here is the handiest to keep track of one's own growth, but it looks weird to use it to compare hair lengths.
about stylists, the first and second one that touched my hair certainly did a disaster cuze they more or less cut my hair way too short. then i found some ones who's job i actually appreciated (with razors, but oh so bad for the hair!). so i kept that style for quite a while. my hair kept growig of course and after a certain length layers are just plain ugly, especially the ends.

welcome here too!  :D
