Title: You know you are living in 2005 when....
Post by bikerbraid on Feb 15th, 2005 at 9:23pm
You know you are living in 2005 when....

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they
don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You go home after a long day at work you still answer the phone in a
business manner.

7. You make phone calls from home, you accidentally dial "9" to get an
outside line.

8. You've sat at the same desk for four years and worked for three different
companies.

10. You learn about your redundancy on the 11 o'clock news.

11. Your boss doesn't have the ability to do your job.

12. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if
anyone is home.

13. Every commercial on television has a website at the bottom of the
screen.

14. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the
first 20 or 30 (or 60)years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you
turn around to go back and get it.

15. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee.

16. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. :)

17. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

18. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this
message.

19. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

20. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a # 9 on this
list.

AND NOW U R LAUGHING at yourself.

Ha ha, yep  ::)

Though I'm probably the only teenager left in the country who doesn't own a cell phone  :o Sometimes I wish I had one, if only for when I'm driving alone or desparately need to reach someone, but I have no qualms with borrowing someone else's phone, and frankly, I like being totally unobligated and unreachable sometimes. It's very freeing.  :) Plus knowing how to have some patience and wait for someone to get home or being able to rely on your own resources to accomplish something is a worthy skill and makes people appreciate each other's presence. But maybe I'm just old fashioned.

Actually not, my 15 year old son does not have one (not by his choice ;) ).   Glad you can see the positive side to not having one!

Wow...

I like this view. Cairn, you may be the only teen without a phone and I am the only adult without one (by chioce, like you, but never wished I had one, even the times I had to walk home because of  broken down cars and bicycles!) and probably for the same reasons.

You are not old fashioned at all, you just have more common sense than others, something lost on today's teens.

Otherwise, my goofy son calls the house phone while in his car in the driveway all the time.

"Hey Dad, move your bike!"

His girlfriend:
"Hi, I'm here!" from the driveway.

Yes. I have been in the same building same company, three different owners.

Latest art.

My husband has been in the same building for 11 years, working for 3 different companies and 15 different managers - very scarey!

I once worked in the same building for two different companies. One went bankrupt and the new job I got eventually moved into that old building!

I've had 8 different direct supervisors in 13 years where I work now. Also, 4 presidents, (general managers), many VP's, too.

And my wife wonders why I don't try to move up the food chain at that place!  :o

You know you are living in 2005, when......

.....you e-mail your doctor's office for an appointment, rather than calling them

.....you are more worried when your computer has a virus than your children

.....you remember all your passwords and log-ins, but not your families birthdays

LOL! I certainly am most of those about email, although, coffee still has priority in the morning.

Sorry to steal your thunder, Sir Rat, but I too do not, will not have a cell phone. I will not have one in a box, I will not have one to call a fox. I will not have a cell phone, here nor there, I do not have a cell phone anywhere.  ;D

I applaud anyone who has avoided the cell phone.  Although I have one, I use it for less than 10 minutes a month and primarily for work purposes when I am on call.

NR:  Are you sure you will not have one to call a fox?   ;D

Heheh guilty of most of the above.  As far as companies, the first one I worked at had two names, the second one had two name, and the third had three names.  So I worked for 7 different companies at 3 physical locations.  :)

As far as cell phone, I avoided one until about 2 years ago when it became more economical to get cable modem vs. DSL.  So my cell is my primary phone.  I still don't let it run my life though - if I don't feel like talking to anyone, I let the voicemail pick up.  :)  It's nice to have in emergencies, I must admit.
