Title: greetings from hawaii
Post by juri on Mar 27th, 2005 at 4:56am
Hi all!

I've been checking out this message board for a couple of months, but only joined last week.  I stumbled upon this site when I was doing a search on long hair care tips.  I've been growing my hair out for nearly two years.  Right now it's only about 19 inches long, but it was chin-length when I started so I guess that's good.  My goal is to get waist-length hair (or perhaps a little shorter).

I'm Japanese and so my hair is straight and sometimes annoyingly thick (I can't really do anything with it except put it in a pony tail unless I use a lot of bobby pins and hairspray).  My hair's naturally black, but right now it's dyed a sort of auburn color.  During the summer it was fuschia, but the dye rubbed off on everything so I ended up going back to a more "natural"color.

I don't really have any favorite accessories, but I do have a couple of products that I really like.  Since my hair is dry as a result of bleaching it last year, I really like the Brazil Nut Mask from The Body Shop.  After visiting this message board, I started using cone-free shampoo and conditioner from Nature's Gate.  I've only tried the jojoba shampoo and the keratin conditioner, but I noticed that my hair doesn't get as oily as quickly compared to when I used Garnier Fructis.

I'm in my last semester at the University of Hawaii so don't mind me if I frequently disappear between now and the middle of May.

Oooh, sounds like really pretty hair, though I can see where the thickness factor can get irritation.  Got any pictures?

I use nature's gate too, it's a bit of an adjustment off the cones, but I'm really liking them now.

Welcome to boards and among the growers!

Your hair sounds beautiful. Once it gains some length, I'm sure that you'll be able to do some stunnig styles :D

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies!  I feel so loved!

I think my hair used to look nice, but right now the length is kind of screwed up because it's been chemically treated a few times.  I really have to stop coloring it.  I'll try to get a couple of pictures together.  Perhaps in one or two weeks when I have more time.

Welcom juri!  Amazing how we all want colors/textures of hair that we don't have!  Your hair sounds wonderful.  Love to hear from you as your studies allow.

Welcome!

What are you studying in school?

I'm majoring in English and psychology.  After I graduate I'm going to take a year off to either teach English in Japan with the JET Program or have a regular job (if I don't get into JET).
