Title: Better Late than never
Post by Rapunzel_wannabe on Aug 28th, 2005 at 10:17pm
I've been here for a while, and just haven't gotten around to introducing myself, what bad manners lol.

Anyway, I'm a junior in high school with (In my opinion) horrible mouse/dishwater brown hair. It's almost BSL length but in a year and a half I'd like to get it to waist.  :o Big plans I know, but I'm only 5 ft tall so waist is only a little over 30 inches. I use hairsticks from claire's because I'm too cheap to buy the beautiful hairsticks I see here (homecoming, now there's an event I'd splurge for). I've got a pretty longhair-friendly enviornment, my mother cried when I chopped off a foot of badly damaged hair when I was ten, three of my closest friends have midback length or longer, and my cheerleading coach has beautiful wavy hip length black hair. (Granted she doesn't know what to do with it, but I digress) I am completely hair style illiterate, french braiding eludes me, and I can only use one hairstick at a time; But I'm hoping hanging out with all you longhairs will help me.

So yeah, that's me in a nutshell. Like I said, better late than never!

Welcome Rapunzel_wannabe!  Saw you around earlier, glad to have your introduction.  Hope you enjoy hanging around.

I'm somewhat hair style challenged too, but I've been getting better!  It is so  8) 8) 8) when an updo is presentable, and especially when you can repeat it ;D  The secret, of course, is like your cheerleading -- practice, practice, practice.

Here are some sites to give you how-tos:

http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/index.htm

http://longhairloom.com/index.html

http://www.haarkram.e-something.de/start.html

http://www.braidedimage.com/

The last one sells a DVD and booklet on basic braiding techniques that I've found to be helpful. (Did a review of it under the "hair care products review" thread above.)

Hope these help.  Welcome, again!

Welcome!

Hang around here and I'm sure you will pick up some good hints for handling your hair.  And don't worry about the color (as one mouse-y/dishwater brown haired to another), the longer you hair gets, the more beautiful the color becomes.   ;D

Hi and Welcome!

Aha - you are well into long long hair.  I happen to love so called mouse brown - it is soft and elegant and like BB said it gets more beautiful as it grows...g

Welcome!  Your hair is NOT dishwater or mousey.  If you want to try henna to add more color to your hair, you can...but I like the natural color!
