Title: Dove Post by Beesan16 on Oct 11th, 2005 at 8:44pm
Hey ya'll! :D
I was looking at the new Dove Intense Moisture. It made a lot of sense, about the whole not striping the hair of it's natural oils. So I was thinking abolut getting it, but thought i'd ask you guys first. Thanks in advance! :) |

I've recently seen the commercial for this product but haven't seen it in the store, I don't have anything to say either way about it.
If you try it, please let us know what you think in the product review thread! |

Some Dove products use harsh cleansers (SLS) but I used dove conditioners. I really liked them when my hair was dyed black. I think I still have intense moisture conditioner. It's got a cone (dimethoconol I believe.)
One thing I really like about Dove is their advertising. Their "campaign for real beauty" was a great design move. |

Thanks, Sakina, and Pan! :)
i agree Pan, and i think that's what pulled a lot of people to their products. |

I've also seen the commercial for their products that claim not to strip the natural oils from your hair, I'm not sure what to think. A hair group I'm in on livejournal has been talking about this too and many people came to the conclusion that the ingrediants didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary when compared to a lot of other products. I haven't tried Dove before, so I can't say what I think of it from experiance. If the commercials claims are true, I'd be happy to give it a shot. Just thought I'd toss in what I've heard though. :)

Hello, Beesan :)
I received a few sample packets of Dove Intense Moisture in the mail once, tried them and rather liked them. My only real opposition to the line is that they don't make a leave-in spray conditioner, which is essential to my hair care regimen because my fine hair is impossible to detangle otherwise. They are also a wee bit on the expensive side last time I checked. Other than that, I dig it. I suppose you could give it a shot. *shrug* What's the worst that could happen? If you hate it, you don't have to keep using it. ;) |

Angel Spun, try this: http://www.longlocks.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=hairrecipes;action=display;num=1130354064
If you go on the dove.com website and go to haircare, they are giving away free samples of the new shampoo & conditioner. I sent away for it, but haven't received it yet. |

ooh la la, thanx for the link, kimberlily. That leave-in sounds lovely! I may have to give it a try.
Thanx also for the "heads" up. I like getting free samples in the mail...if my roommate doesn't steal them! :-/ |

I tried Dove when it first came out, and really didn't like it. It left my hair very weighed down and residue-y feeling. I know there is a Dove discussion somewhere else on the boards here...
But, maybe their formula has changed over the years..who knows! I would try a free sample again, but it would have to be pretty darn good to convince me to buy their stuff again! |

I use the Dove Instense Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. I like it, my hair also does well with cones though. It also contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which I have heard is good to hair compared to Sodium Laryel Sulfate.

Thanks Ladies! :)
I tried it, and it left my hair feeling rubbery, with a disgudting squeak to it :P and i had to use a Suave conditioner after that. Then i decided to give it a second chance, and i ACV'd before using it just to see if the build up was the problem...no luck :-/ Anyway, I now use Natures Gate Jojoba shampoo and conditioner, and i love it :D and thanks again for the reviews :D P.S. Kimberlily- you leave-in sounds great! :)... now all i need is a trip to Whlefoods |

Oh well, at least now you know. I'm glad you found something you do like, though :D

I have been using this for the last couple of months--I like the smell. :-) Not the best criteria for judging shampoo/condish, but oh well.
I agree that the shampoo seems a little harsh--so I use very little. But I really like the conditioner, though. My .02 Kim |
