Hey thanks for the welcome peoples *feels special* Okay on to my hair I've been growing since I was In 6th grade by 8th it was down to my waist and my bangs pass my shoulders. In 10th it was long enough to sit on so I had about 5 inch cut off and then layered. In 11th I tried to cut the bangs myself which didn't turn out to well....so now there kinda short :/.Me and Beesan known each other since forever heh I have really black Asian hair so it's pretty hard for the dye to show up. I started dying my hair since 4th grade my first color red since then I’ve been going with all vivid colors . So I’ll be asking all you wonderful people for advice.

Thanks for the welcome ChiliPepper hmm I'm usually on gaming forums like RPG game. This is my first forum that has nothing to do with games. But in them all I've used the name ST. was it another forum you saw my hair on?

lol. I have black Asian hair too so I know annoying it can be to try and get dye to show up. Wow, you started dyeing in the 4th grade?! I don't think I tried to color my hair until I was in the 8th grade. So what colors have you used? *rather curious*

Hi there!  Welcome!

I also have black, asian hair.  For semi-permanent colors like Manic Panic, Punky, and Fudge I had to bleach my hair almost white first.   Right now, my hair is just lightened to a natural brown (using Redken Double Fusion.)

XD mind if I quote it on my sig? Hehe thanks everyone; woot I’m not the only Asian around anymore ^^ at school I was, but I don’t mind that made me unique.

ChiliPepper tis cool n.n what kinda games do you like? Me I like RPG games most like final fantasy 7,8,10, x-2. 7’s the best out of them all and Star Ocean games from square enix mostly I use to rp too on boards but after yahoo took out the users rooms its not so much fun anymore ._. And I watch anime too heh I’m like the ‘typical’ Asian

Juri: Yups I’m still trying to find my perfect color I tried red streaks first when I was in 4th grade but it was the spray on kind and I didn’t like it much cause it went off on my pillow. Then my friend found a better one at her barbershop that one didn’t come off so easily so I had a purple undertone.  It still came off when I washed my hair so I had to reapply it every time. A few years later I wanted to go semi permanent chocolate brown but it didn’t even show up so then I tried a really light shade like strawberry blond a couple days later so my hair was totally fried but it turned out brownish orangeish and people said I looked like J-Lo lol Then I went for Henna just the bangs took a lot of work but it only showed up in the sun. After that was faded I went for a honey colors brown which is pretty faded right now so I’m pretty much back to my black hair. I’m think about getting the ends dipped in silver though cause silver such a cool color but I don’t want it to end up looking gray XD.

Maggie: lol I wish than I’d look awesome that’s Tifa from Advent Children she got long hair too my friend had drawn a picy of it for me I’d use as my avy as soon as I can find it ^^;;;.

Angel Spun: thankies ^^ it took my a while to think up of a username but ima stick to it now

Whoa what a long post I gotta quit…

Whoa, thanks for answering my question! It sounds like you've tried a lot of different dyes as well. I tried semi-permanents at first but the only dyes that made a noticable change in my color were permanent dyes and even then only Herbal Essances really showed up.

Coloring your ends silver would be an interesting look! But I agree that there's the risk of gray-looking hair.

I have virgin Asian hair that is normally rather straight. :P Agreed, there aren't many of us around on the hair boards, but where there are some of us, we're usually no stranger to long hair. Glad to have you with us. You're also (highly) encouraged to start a hair journal on the Personal Journals board because that's how we get to know each other's hair routines, get ideas for products to try for whatever hair type, and in general to socialize in each other's threads.

Hugs

Anais

n.n np juri I gotta try Herbal Essances next, what colors have you done? *huggles* Anaia sure thing I'll take a look at the personal journals. Where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Hey, S_T (is it okay if I call you that?)! It's been a few years since I used Herbal Essences and they discontiued some of the colors I liked (argh), but I used to use the medium to deep red colors. Sorry I can't give you the exact names; I can't remember them. (I'm getting old. *sigh*) Anyways, if I remember correctly, I *think* the brighter reds made a more obvious change to my hair color while the deeper reds still showed up, but weren't as bright. I haven't tried any other of their colors, mostly because I like red hair and there's no way blonde shades would have shown up.

Yes, take some time to look at the journals! They're pretty fun to read.

ETA: I found two of the colors I used: Radient Ruby and Plush Plum. I think I liked Radient Ruby more, but they were both nice.

Sure ^^ ST will be fine I get called that in the other forums too. Oh that sux they took out the good colors. Before I had wanted to go ever shades of brown but some shades didn't up too well or turned a redish color. Now I wanna use funky bright colors that stands out very well.  ooo Plush Plum sounds pretty did you do all of your hair or was it a pattern?

Title: Re: Hi hi
Post by juri on Oct 20th, 2005 at 1:48am
Plush Plum was a nice color and different from the browns I usually see on other Asians in my area. Since I was putting the dye on myself, I just used it on all of my hair. Nothing fancy.
