Occasionally, I shower right before I go to bed.  I don't want to sleep with my wet hair down, because it will tangle, but I don't want to put it in a bun, because it will still be wet in the morning!  Any ideas?

I have wrapped my hair in a towel to sleep when the situation requires me to wash before bed.  You still have some tangles to deal with (and in my case, my hair would still be damp), but it is better than leaving it loose and is not as soaking wet as from a bun or even braid

I would put a towel on my pillow and make two low braided pigtails if I had to go to bed with my hair wet.

I always shower at night.  I wrap my hair in a microfiber turban towel and wear that until bedtime.  I detangle my hair with a plastic seamless comb, put in my leave-in and sleep with it down on a silk pillowcase.  My tangles are minimal and it doesn't seem to have increased splits or breaking.  

Besides, if I don't wear it down when wet it never seems to dry.  

While I've tried to avoid going to bed/sleep with damp hair, I've not always succeeded. I DO try to make sure my hair is only damp, then spread a towel on the pillow and put my hair into a bubba-tail. Wherever the elastics are, my hair will be damp in the morning, but the rest is usually dry. Although with my length it only takes an hour to become damp.

This probably won't help much, but if it were me, I would just wait until my hair was dry.

If I go to bed with wet hair, I usually wake up sick.  :(

I would try to schedule my washings to a more convenient time...like in the morning.

I often go to bed with my hair still damp rather than wet but that is only because I have been too lazy to dry it. Yes, it is a bit tangled in the morning but no more than usual. I obviously don't move much in the night I suppose. I have bought some satin and some silk to make a sort of tube to put my hair in at night but haven't got around to making the thing yet. I am hoping that it will have a good affect on my hair rather than cotton pillowcases.

Oh Curlgirl you beat me to it.  Well done, I feel asahmed that all I do is keep looking at my material and thinking, I must get on with it but then walk by and it goes straight out of my head. Hopefully you have spurred me on but I am watching the Agassi / Nadal game at Wimbledon at the moment. ( I have loved Agassi from the first moment he walked out at Wimbledon with that gorgeous long hair, I really wasn't bothered about his tennis playing skills at first but he won and I have loved him eversince.)

I think I bought about 13" by 45" in both satin and silk and I think I paid about £6 which I think equates to around $11 so it is more expensive here I think. Unfortunately, when I was buying it the lady in the shop was talking about meters and centimeters and I am still in inches and feet and I think I might not have bought enough width, I should have made it at least 20" but I might get away with the 13" if I have a very small seam. I'll let you know. And if I can get to grips with posting pictures I will do that too.

 That's exactly what I need to sleep in at night.  It seems like my hair is sooh tangled in the mornings, and I always pull some out when first combing everyday.
