Title: Big, giant scary exciting thing Post by ChiliPepper on Nov 12th, 2005 at 3:45am
Hubby and I went to our first meeting to start becoming foster to adopt parents. I am so excited and a little scared. Anyone else out there have experience with this?

I don't have any experience with this, but you and your hubby are doing a really nice thing. Good luck! :)

Sorry, no experience with this here neither. But this is a big step. Like you said scary, but also fascinating and very rewarding. Good luck! And I am looking forward to your updates on this subject :)

No experience, but I've thought that one day, adopting a child might be a good option. Good luck for you both! I hope that everything goes smoothly. :)

That is giant, scary, and exciting! We will probably adopt someday, but luckily my bio clock stopped ticking and we can wait several more years.
Good luck and let us know how it goes! |

Congratulations ChiliPepper -- perhaps a bit early, but you've still taken a big step.
We were foster parents for a niece and two nephews for a couple of months, many years ago. Do not regret it one bit. Have not done the foster to adopt program, but giving the kids back was difficult. |

No experience here either. But I think it's so wonderful you want to adopt! Kudos to you and your hubby!

Thanks for your support guys. So far it's been all about the paperwork. The adoption agency sent us this giant packet of papers to fill out and bring to our first meeting, so we did. That was just the application we found out. Then at the meeting they gave us another giant packet of paperwork to fill out with questions about how met, what we argue about, parenting styles, and on and on. I should have called this thread Big, giant, scary, exciting paperwork thing ;D I told my sister-in-law that I hadn't thought about being married to her brother so much since I had actually married him. ;D The paperwork is kind of a brain-twister-melter thingy but fun because it's interesting to see what hubby wrote in responce. Every morning I go sneak a peek at whatever new he wrote.

Good luck chilliepepper :D I agree its a great thing to adopt a child! ;D I did the foster parent thing, the boy had ADD and no one wanted him so I had him for years. Once he was eighteen he moved out and is on his own now. His just turned 23 this September. I get post card from him from all over the states, he drives a 18 wheeler and whenever he visits the truck takes up the whole street!! ::)

I've had no experience with this, but I would love to adopt someday. It's such a nice thing of you and your hubby to do and I'm sure it'll be greatly rewarding. I'm looking forward to hearing about any updates. :)
