Title: Long & Silky Post by jab on Nov 16th, 2005 at 3:08pm
somewhere on your website you had mentioned "Long & Silky the Conditioner"
I have been trying for years to find out what happened to it, and had been spending the last few days on the internet trying to find out what company made it,and what happened to it. Would you know.. or can someone please tell me the company.. then maybe I can call them and ask them what name they had changed that same formula to. thanks Jab |

Pantene used to have a shampoo and conditioner called Long and Silky. I've not seen it around for some time. They now have a line called Smooth and Sleek.

I use the Pantene line, right now I am using brunette expressions, but I do have some of the smooth & sleek line too. I find that it's a bit too heavy for my hair to use daily, so I use it sparingly, especially if I know that I want to wear my hair very straight. The Classic Care & Daily Moisture Renewal lines are very good for every day use I find, and using the Purity once a week helps to clarify. Usually when clarifying, I will use the Purity followed by an ACV rinse (apple cider vinegar), then my usual conditioner. Hope that helps!

Just out of curiosity, Maggie, how is the Brunette Expressions working for you? Do you like it?
I've been interested myself in trying the lighter Expressions formulas for brunette and red. So far, I haven't, but if they're worth the price, I might give them a try yet. |

Was this the one:
It's by Clairol, and I don't think they make it anymore. I haven't found any evidence, but people keep talking about it in the past-tense. That pic was from an eBay listing that was selling a "vintage" advertisement of the product. Cynde |

LOL! Is that an actual ad? Did you guys read what is says underneath? :
"You take care of the jeans- we'll take care of the hair, with Long & Silky, because it helps split ends a lot so they don't look all separated. And it detangles and unfrazzles and leaves it really smooth & silky but it's still all swingy. You know, free looking. It makes it shine a lot. It makes it smell good, too." I guess they figured the girls would so good looking that they didn't need to pay a good writer for the ad! :P BTW- That is some AWESOME hair! |

I am very happy with it so far, I have been using it for 2 or 3 weeks now, and I really love the way it works on my hair. There are two shades you can pick from, i am using the one for a darker brunette. It makes my hair feel clean, light and silky, I don't notice a difference in my color, though, but that's OK. That's not really why I bought it. I like it for every day use, and I still clarify once a week with the purity. So, thumbs up so far! |

Khrome: What a great ad! It reminds me of an era in which my own mother wore hipster bellbottom jeans and had hair down to her waist. *sigh*
Maggie: I was considering trying either the light brunette or light red formulas to see if I would notice any enhancement of either colour, however subtle. But I'm not sure if it would really work. For now I'll just stick to Daily Moisture Renewal, I think. It seems to be working well enough. :) |

YOU DID IT YOU DID IT!!!
you even found the EXACT AD!!! oh girls!!!! that was the BEST stuff ever going!! I mean it, why does companies always change products? My hair felt GREAT when I used that stuff. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFORMATION "CLAIROL" AND THE AD... WOW! jab |
Title: Re: Long & Silky Post by khrome on Nov 18th, 2005 at 10:34pm
I'm glad to be of help! If you want a momento of it, you should probably print a copy of it. Since the ad was part of an ebay auction, it will probably disappear soon. If you want the link to the ebay auction or the seller's name, let me know.
Hahah I didn't read all of the text at the bottom of the ad! They could have used some help with the writing. :) Cynde |

Title: Re: Long & Silky Post by panpeus on Nov 19th, 2005 at 2:24am
Wow, the typesetting in that ad makes me cry. :'( But the girl in the middle, she's got beautiful hair! It almost looks wig-ish...either that or her forehead is really, really small.
Maybe it's a half-wig. I don't know. |
Title: Re: Long & Silky Post by Angel Spun on Nov 19th, 2005 at 2:53am
jab: Those were the good old days, weren't they?
panpeus: The gal in the middle reminds me a good deal of my mother back in the day. Her hair was very much that way. Same length, same middle part, same colour, even the same small forehead. If I ever go digital, I may have to post a few of her hair pics. Through the years, my sister & I have looked to them for inspiration. :) |

Title: Re: Long & Silky Post by jab on Nov 19th, 2005 at 6:11pm
them were the days alright.
as for it being a wig.. it's possible, but we have to remember them was the 70's we had strange ways of styling our hair back them LOL My hair was that length back then when I was using LOng and Silky little thinner then her's.. but brown.. back then i was trying to hide my red highlights.. didn't like them. but now my hair is dyed red.. cause my boyfriend wants it that way. now it's fading. :( my hair was down to my tailbone till my daughters got ahold of it, and cut 6 inches off it.
