Title: Hair thinning Post by Gwynalah on Dec 4th, 2005 at 10:11pm
Over the past year, I've noticed my hair must be thinner because a ponytail holder wrapped around twice slides out of my mid-back length hair (whereas it used to stay in).
I have already tested for thyroid problems, and none came up. My dermatologist "said" my hair count was "within normal range." I don't know what the problem is-- any ideas? |

My guess would be hormones.
My hair has gone through a lot of changes over the years with different medications that I've taken. Are you noticing it falling out? Breaking off? Both? |

Stress and/or hormones can cause thinning. My hair has about 1/2 the thickness it had when I was in my 20's, but it is still considered normal.

If it's hormonal or stress related, is there any way to correct it? (Can't get rid of the stress for sure...) :P

Some people find that taking MSM, biotin and silica help reduce the shedding. Silica had most effect for me.
Of course, being gentle with you hair should always be at the top of the list. ;D |

I read that basil, sage, and rosemary help stimulate hair growth. They can be used as rinses, or as oil massaged into the scalp. I think they would have to be used frequently to see resultes
