Title: Shampoo Expiration Date

Hey girls, I was going through my cabinet and I believe I have shampoos and conditioners that are several months old (maybe a year!)

Is there a shelf-life for these products which were purchased at a drugstore or salon?

I have used shampoos/conditioners that were over a year old. They were not organic/health food store type products. Other than being a bit "thicker", they were just fine. (I dilute most of my products anyway!).

I would think they should be fine - most products have preservatives and stabilizers in them. If the product looks and smells OK, I'd think it would be OK to use.

Oh gosh, I've already used products that were yeeeaaarrrs old. I keep a reserve of shampoos and conditioners that consist of products that I bought, tried, didn't like, but didn't want to throw away, so they sit in a closet in case I ever run into a shortage emergency. I don't think there were any ill effects, they worked just as horribly then as they did when I first bought them! ;) I think you'll be fine if you use them up.

They should be fine to use again, Pan. I'm pretty sure I've found & used products older than that.

Thanks for the replies, ladies! I have chagrin valley soaps on the way, and I think my current shampoo is going to go on vacation for a while. :p

I got the herb garden, honey egg and beer, rosemary mint, and i got the summer citurs for my sister (she has oily hair.) I think Ida shipped them yesterday. :)

They arrived at my home, not my apartment. So I get to try them out on Saturday. I can't wait! :D
