Title: Green Gunk
Post by maggie on Jan 27th, 2006 at 6:32pm
Hello all  ;D

I've been writing about this problem in my journal, but I figured I'd post it out where more people might see it...and hopefully help me!  I've been noticing this "green gunk" buildup in my hair lately, mainly on the top part of my hair, near the roots.  I'm like 99% sure that's it's from our well water, because it's turning everything else in the house green, too - from our tighty whities to our showers & tubs.  I've tried using a clarifying shampoo, vinegar rinsing more than usual, and I've tried doing a comb-thru in the shower with conditioner in my hair and a fine tooth comb (I have no clue if this was a good idea or not, I'm just getting desparate!).  None of it's really working, I don't know what else to try and I can't afford to use bottled water on my hair everyday.  HELP!  I'm starting to feel like swamp thing!

Is there a build up on your dishes???  If so it may be due to mineral deposits in your well.  My father has a well and he had to install a filter system to remove minerals from his water. ( He lives in the NC mountians)  I live in FL and I know we have hard water ( it has minerals in it) in this area so I installed a copper filter on my showerhead to prevent buildup.  Also make sure your pipes from the well are not copper.....that may also cause the green gunk.....hope this helps :-/
