Title: Oil ingredients Post by greek_lady on Mar 11th, 2006 at 5:37pm
I picked up at Body Shop this "Spa Miracle Oil" which is marketed as "complete hair, body and bath oil with Monoi de Tahiti"
The smell is very summer-y and enticing and I am very much into lovely-smelling hair. ;D ;D But before using it on my hair I thought to ask you, oh wise ones :D :D, what do you think of the list of ingredients? ??? ??? Should I, or shouldn't I? Well, it reads: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Prunus dulcis, Orbignya oleifera, Cocos nucifera, Parfum, Linalool, Tocopherol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Gardenia tahitensis, Cananga odorata, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Piper nigrum, Geraniol, Farnesol, Jasminum officinale, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Eugenol, Amyl Cinnamal, Citronellol, Coumarin, Hydroxycitronellal, Isoeugenol. Thanks heaps! |

Oh my, I've never seen most of these.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride fractionated coconut oil Prunus dulcis sweet almond oil Orbignya oleifera babassu oil, beneficial Cocos nucifera coconut palm oil Parfum fragrance Linalool pleasant scent, chemical used in many cosmetics apparently; I'e never seen it before. Tocopherol Vitamin E Hexyl Cinnamal "not assessed for safety" Gardenia tahitensis Tahitian Monoi flower Cananga odorata Ylang Ylang Benzyl Benzoate used to treat lice :o "Do not use benzyl benzoate on open wounds, such as cuts or sores on the skin or scalp" Benzyl Salicylate dissolves synthetic fragrance Piper nigrum pepper Geraniol derived from rose oil, it smells like rose. Farnesol a perfume Jasminum officinale jasmine Benzyl Alcohol Limonene citrus rind extract Eugenol aromatic compound, that stuff that makes cloves smell like cloves Amyl Cinnamal probably a derivative of cinnamon Citronellol derived from citronella Coumarin aromatic compound, smells like vanilla Hydroxycitronellal Isoeugenol another aromatic compound. Whew! I personally wouldn't use this because of the Benzyl, Hexyl compounds. You'd be better off buying authentic Monoi, rather than a product "with" Monoi de Tahiti. just my 2 cents :) Anais |
