Title: gday from Australia! Post by brinkley_03 on Mar 20th, 2006 at 5:02am
hi everyone!
i live in sydney, australia. im 17 and studying for my final school exams. heres my hair story: it has always been long since i was little, my proudest moment was when it reached my lower back at the age of 14. its naturally a light brown. at 15 i got a stupid idea in my head to do the big chop. and i mean big, like halle berry's short hair short. i luved for about a year, and then just past my 16th birthday i decided to grow it again. i was getting there, it got to about my collar bone. and then ofcause, i decided to ruin everything by adding blonde highlights! eek! this totally distroyed my hair and they went orange becuase i use all natural hair shampoo and conditioner, called "Alchemy" by the Purist company. this is because my head is extremely sensitive. so to cover up the orange i bought a permanant at home brown hair colour kit. bad idea!!!!!!!!! it went black!!!! so in a fit of rage i went to the hairdresser and got them to chop it all short again. with the idea that i would grow a colour free head of long natural hair. that was about a month ago! all thats on my mind is growing my hair long again, and having it short makes me so self conscious. oh well. i guess i just have to be patient. i started taking a hair vitamin called "Figaro" in hope that it will speed up the growth. i cant believe it, growing my hair is even prominant in my dreams!! haha. iv checked out the great page on 20 tips for growing long hair; but if anyone has any experience or advice or tips please let me know, i would be most grateful! nice to meet you all! luv from brinkley_03 p.s my favourite thing to do with my short hair at the moment is to wear a beautiful hair band i got given when i was young. its thin velvet black and has a diamontie heart on one side. hehe! :) ;) :D |

Oh my! You are having to learn the hard way to accept what you have.
The biggest secret to growing long hair is "patience". Take good care of your hair. You have an "advantage" that your hair is short and you can treat it gently now, so that it will be in excellent condition when it gets as long as you want. |

Welcome. Good to have you.
Yep, growing takes care and patience. Even on days your hair isn't behaving or looks awful, keep your chin up. It will get there. In the meantime, find fun stuff to do with it at the length it is (clips, headbands, little ponytails, whatever makes you happy) Another thing is about cutting it. Wait at least 2 weeks to think about getting it cut. It allows you to think it fully over and not do something you would regreat. Keep growing and keep us posted. :) Meg |

Welcome Brinkley :)
I would encourage you to take digital progress photos to keep on file. That way you can see your progress instead of measuring it. The images are much more powerful. Nice to meet you. Anais |
