Title: hello from uk Post by chetters on Apr 17th, 2006 at 7:07am
Hi there,
My name is jon.my hair is about 56 inches long although no longer all one length. rather tapered somewhat for last few inches.(calf length) I have been growing hair for past 18 years. hair was however maintained at about waist length until about 6 years. I decided at the dawn of the new millenium to go all the way being curious as to what my terminal length would be. I had been receiving mixed reactions to my hair for being so long so i decided going a little longer wouldn't change people's opinions whether good, bad or indifferent. Colour is predominantly black but there are lighter shades of brown running through it. Reckon hair has reached final length as there has no growth at all since last summer but i plan to start taking hair supplements (ultrahair wa recommended) to maybe stimulate growth. Hair relatively straight and very thick but slightly bushy and wavy at the ends, hence possible need of trim. Don't wear hair loose all that often.tend to wear it in long plait/braid as this is more practical especially in view of wind and rain we get here in scotland. Any tips or variation regarding hair styles would be useful. I am not bothered if styles are percieved as effeminate as i initially grew my hair to avoid being pigeon holed and adopting a stereotypical short "male" style. Work in call centre so i do not make much physical contact with would be clients/customers so their impressions on how i look are irrelevant.Apart from my hair i am fairly conventional regarding looks, appearance and interests, being fairly mainstream. Happy with current length and would not be too upset if hair fails to reach ankles.Floor length i reckon would not be practical as i would not like my hair to get soiled or damaged being on the ground. Then again someone may give me ideas regarding hair buns and updos! Great site and look forward to checking out posts for thoughts and ideas. |

Welcome (again) Jon!
I think you have sucessfully shed the typical male, short hair image! ;D Congrats! The hair vitamins might be just what you need to see if you can get out of your "resting" period for growth - I wish you luck on that. One style idea I can give might be the banded pony tail. This is very simple, just put hairsafe hair elastics down the length of your tail - about 4 - 6 inches apart. It is similar to wearing a plait, but still a bit different. Twin braids are also worn by men in the US - it is a traditional American Indian style. The half-up style is also one the guys like. You pull the hair from the top of your ears back to the back of your head, and put that hair into a bun, held with a wooden stick. The rest of the hair is left loose. You might try it with the remaining hair braided. Your braid would not be as thick this way. I look forward to getting to know you better and hope that you have not yet reached terminal length! |

Greetings and welcome, chetters.
MY, that is some amazing hair you have! :o 18 years is a lot of time to invest in growing your hair. And I have to commend you for going against the grain of traditional short male hairstyles. You dare to be different, and that is totally awesome! Best of luck reaching your hair goal. Happy growing! :) |
