I've been meaning to ask............does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean Ric's wooden combs.  The oil he provides with the comb is nice for polishing,but what about cleaning????

How about using a BBB? It always works for my combs, all of them, not just wooden.

Use cheap combs to clean good brushes and cheap brushes to clean good combs.

I've not had a problem with my wooden combs having any build up on them.  I do oil/wax them regularly and use a Qtip to oil the teeth of the comb.  Maybe that would also help clean the comb?

BB-I oil my comb 2x a month(Ric's suggestion)  It isn't dirty,but I was just wondering what gals and guys were doing to keep it nice and new.  I am going to try the Q-tips in addition to the oiling though :)

Yes- a boar bristle brush. You should be able to find one at a Target or Kmart for less than 5 bucks.... for a comb cleaner BBB, any cheap one with a wooden base will do. Vidal Sassoon makes a 5-dollar boar bristle brush for Wal-Mart stores.

         speaking of wooden combs..... i'm looking for another one, or several. i have one that i love to death but it has been dropped. many, many times. as a result of this, it is broken and looks rather sad and pathetic. i can't remember where i bought it. i've had it for years. anyway, i've been searching for a place or website to buy a high-quality wooden comb and i'm not having much luck.... does anybody have any suggestions?

I bought a wooden long handled comb from Ric at www.combmaker.com and I am very happy with it. It is very good quality in my opinion, and it also comes with a polishing wax/oil and free engraving.

Ric's handmade combs are very nice.  I've also heard that the Body Shop carrys a commercially made wooden detangling comb that people like.

             thanks corinne and bikerbraid! i went to that website you reccomended and i realized that i have tried to order a comb on that site before. it said to email him to order and i did but never heard from him. there's a 1-800 number too. i should probably try that. has anyone bought anything from him recently? maybe he's gone out of business. i'll also have to check out the body shop comb..... ;D

It may take Ric alittle while to be back to you,but he will.  I got my comb from him probably about 1 1/2 months ago.  I kept leaving messages for him and he did get back to me.  He's not out of business,I think us long haired ladies and gents keep him in business!!
Don't give up,he's worth getting a comb from!
