Title: Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil Post by UP_Lisa on Aug 28th, 2006 at 5:03pm
I have baby-fine hair. I want something to put on the ends to prevent dryness. I know a lot of people like shea butter and a lot of people like Jojoba oil. Can anyone help me decide which one to try? Or should I try both?

I have very fine hair and love jojoba on the ends. I've not tried shea butter - yet. ;)

I think the key is to find the right amount to apply, no matter what you use.
Good Luck! |

I like shea butter in the summer. In the winter we keep our house at 62 degrees, and I think it's just too cold and the shea butter gunks my hair a little and makes it more tangly. (I thought this might be relevant for you since you live in the UP.)
In the summer, I find that in the humidity it calms the crazy hairs that stick out, and it feels nice on the hair. I find that jojoba doesn't soften my hair, but it soaks in well, and I believe it improves its condition. I use it quite a bit, winter or summer. |

Thank you so much for the suggestions. It certainly might be true that the Shea Butter would work better in the Summer. I guess I'll be trying them both.

do any of you use baby oil in your hair? I had tried the oiling thing and just couldn't figure out the right doses to keep from just greasing up my hair, but I started using baby oil instead and it really seems to help.

I avoid Baby Oil on my hair. The oil molecule is too large to be absorbed into the hair shaft, so it just sits on my hair, making it greasy. I use jojoba oil on my hair. Just a drop is all that I need to oil the ends.

Hi beautiful ones!
I use coconut oil.It works for those georgious indian hair,so...... I thought I´d try it and I'm stuck!!I moist my palms with the oil and than add it to the tops and just touch the surface of the whole hair, giving it a nice healthy shine and it keeps those shorter rebellious hairs in place;))) |

fractionated coconut oil is wonderful also. You might want to give it a try. I like it from www.mystifyyoursenses.com

You can use any form of the oil. The important thing is that is 100%.I've bought several pomades that had petrolium, linolin in them although the jar said"coconut oil".I don't recomend that you use those but I use tham as one would use wax for extra shine.
The coconut oil has antibacterial properties and is very good for scalp moisturizing. It helps prevent dandruff also. (sufferers from stretchmarks on legs and tummy can make them disappear by rubbing the oil on the affected area using a toothbrush.it starts showing results in three days!!!) |

You´re wellcome beautiful Lynn!
I´m a freak for beautytips...I'm glad to answer any question anyone has on beautytricks. Btw The other day I imagined a party with all of us (writing in the forum) sitting around a large table, eating cakes from everybodys country and seeing each others hair and face in live....It was such a pleasent thought....It´s a shame that we all live worlds apart :'( |

Yes, it is a shame, but at least with the internet and forums like this we have the opportunity to meet and converse with people from all around the world. The closest we could get to that 20 years ago would have been to have pen pals. |
