Title: sore scalp Post by coolslaw on Sep 16th, 2006 at 12:01am
Hi everyone, its been a while since i came here. I wa using jojoba oil and my hair was doing lovely and I was very excited, it was about an inch above my waist with much fewer split ends but Now I have a pproblem and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this.
for the last month approx. my scalp has been VERY tender and sore. the water in the the shower hurts, combing my hair hurts, wearign it up hurts. It is more tender in certain spots then others. But upon feeling around and asking my bf to look at my head there are NO lumps, red spots, itchy spots, flakyness, and my scalp looks just perfectly normal from everything we could tell, It just is super tender! ??? I don't recal doing anything weird like wearing my hair up super tight. There was a period I was outside in the sun for long periods of time this summer with little protection aside from my jojoba oil, however from everythign I can tell from reading it seems if it was sun damaged or from wearing your hair up to tight it would be healed in a few weeks. :P Does anyone havbe any thoughts on this that might be useful or experiences or advice. thanks. :( |

Ouch! I get sore spots on my scalp everyonce in a while, but I don't think as much as yours.
Do you color your hair? My scalp got really sore from coloring it. You could have sunburned your scalp. Maybe try putting aloe gel on it. I recommend the kind you can take internally-keep it in the frige. Wish I had more to suggest. Good luck! |

Hmm... I had a perm once and that made my scalp very sore. It burned my scalp actually and it still feels a little rough on that spot :P

Whenever I change my part, which do frequently so I don't get the part "bald spot", my scalp is very sore. I havent' found anything that helps it, but at least I know what causes it.....
Best wishes in finding your cause and possibly your cure. |

no I never color or perm my hair, or even use a hair dryer or anything.
I have gotten sore spots from wearing my hair up to tight in the distant past back when I used to use hair bands but that was long ago. I thought maybe it was the sun because when I go into the sun is when it feels the worst except it is not red or even pink. I also considered maybe some sort of scalp infection but again I don't see any signs. I guess I was wondering if it could have been the sun or a scalp infection even though there are no visable signs or if its most likely something else. It also feels best after I have taken a shower. |

I've had two instances of sore scalp. One was from some anti-biotics I was taking. When I stopped taking the medication my scalp calmed down again after a few months.
The second time was when my hair became really long, it was to my waist. I have a lot of hair, it's very thick. My scalp was sore the whole time, bruised feeling. I then had about 5 inches of my hair cut off and my scalp returned to normal. Conclusion: my hair was simply too heavy, it was pulling on my scalp. When it gets too long again, the same thing happens. I do bruise quite easily normally so perhaps I'm just more sensitive...plus as I said, my hair is very heavy. Just thought I'd mention it in case this could be the reason your scalp is hurting. |
