Secret Santa Exchange
For those who are interested, we will be organizing a Secret Santa exchange. The purpose of the exchange is to send a small gift to another person. The recipient of the gift will not know who they will be getting their gift from until it arrives. A few rules for the exchange: All participants must have at least 25 posts at this board. (This is for everyone's protection, especially since real names and addresses will be shared). The value of the gift should not exceed $10 US. The gift does not have to be hair related, but we all know we love hair toys! Please do not send hair products such as shampoos or conditioners - these can be easily tainted and are heavy to ship. Since we have people here from all over the world, we will try to keep people within reasonable shipping areas, but if you are willing to do an overseas shipping, please let us know. To participate, please PM me by November 1st with your name and address, favorite color(s), hair color, type and length. Once I have all the names I will PM you with your person's information. Your Secret Santa may not be the person you are sending your gift to. I will update this post with the list of name of those participating and when they have received their gift. Gifts should be sent by December 1st. Be sure to include your screen name with your gift. Once you have received your Secret Santa gift, please post here what you got and from whom so we can all share in the fun. Please keep in mind that you are participating in this exchange voluntarily. We certainly hope everyone will keep up their end of the exchange. If unable to send your gift, please PM me so I can try to arrange another exchange. We have a list started! Our Secret Santas so far are: Sakina Lisabelle OldKathy Galadriel Trisha Sexywitch Silvermayne |

Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by oldkathy on Nov 14th, 2006 at 6:17pm
Well, my DH and I are heading to San Antonio in our RV for a few days. So my secret santa will just have to wait till I get back and ship it to her. patience everyone.... it is a virtue, you know... I'll have it in the mail before Thanksgiving, though.
|
Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by Curlgirl64 on Nov 15th, 2006 at 11:44am
I'm thinking of adding something else so your idea of before Thanksgiving sounds good too.
|
Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by bikerbraid on Nov 15th, 2006 at 12:18pm
I decided to add something to the package I'm sending out, so mine won't be shipped for a few days yet...
Just remember, our goal was to ship BY December 1st. Sounds like everyone will make that deadline. But also remember we have some international shipping, so it could take a bit for you receive your package. :D ::starting to get "excited" about Christmas.... forget about Thanksgiving!!:: ;D |

Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by silvermayne on Nov 26th, 2006 at 7:56pm
I've got my package all ready to go. I went to the post office last night to mail it, thinking I would use the automatic package mailing machine since the office was closed, but after going through all the steps, the stupid machine said "sorry, due to technical difficulties, we are unable to print your label". GRRR! I hope I get a chance to get to the post office tomorrow!
|
Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by Galadriel on Nov 27th, 2006 at 3:49am
I received a strange notification- it looks like it came from US officials. not from Finnish Customs or my post office. Since my thoughtful SS sent the gift on my "new" name that's not official until Friday, I'll have to wait for a couple of days before checking it out. I'm hoping I'll get some additional info before that.
Because I saw the Customs declaration part, I have some idea of what I'm going to get though. :) I'm excited! |
Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by bikerbraid on Nov 28th, 2006 at 8:45am
grrrrrr >:(
I gave my SSE package to my husband a week ago to ship from his office (thinking it would be faster than me going to the post office). All this time I have assumed it was traveling its merry way to a very special person. Last night I found out he had it sitting on his desk at work all this time. He hadn't gotten around to taking it down to shipping. Hopefully it will find its destination quickly once it is "in the system". :) Since so many packages have already been recieved, how about having our "opening" party December 4th. Anyone that has received their package can announce what they received and from whom on that day. The rest can post when their packages are received. |
Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by silvermayne on Nov 28th, 2006 at 5:33pm
Finally! I got my package mailed today! I hope my SS likes what I got for her. :)

You are welcome, Sexywitch!. I guess I might have gotten a little carried away when I was cranking out the scarf, but I've always thought store bought scarves were too short! ;D
Silvermayne was my Secret Santa - thank you for all the goodies! My goodies were delivered in a cute little bag that had a Christmas Tree ornament with my name on it (and THOSE aren't easy to find!); a neat little notepad case; a rhinstone studded bun cover; a wide stretchy headband; and a bar of Sexy Shea Butter Soap that smells very yummy. Thank you so very much! |

My Secret Santa was Trisha and she sent me a HUGE gift: tea, beautiful yarn (enough to knit a shawl), two pretty photo frames and an art calendar.
Curlgirl, you're welcome. I hadn't seen Taiwan clips in wearable colors for months until I stumbled upon that clip. :) |
Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by oldkathy on Dec 5th, 2006 at 11:54am
You're welcome Lisabelle! The hairstick jewelry set is made by me. Be careful to put pressure only on the bone part. Otherwise, a little superglue will work to put them back together. (Mine aren't even close to Susan's, but they work) The emergency kit is for your purse or car, so you can fix your hair in an emergency. The chopsticks are for eating or putting in your hair (grin) Glad you enjoy everything.

Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by Trisha on Dec 5th, 2006 at 1:16pm

Title: Re: Secret Santa Exchange Post by silvermayne on Dec 9th, 2006 at 11:27am
I looked out the door this morning and there it was! My Secret Santa gift! I eagerly tore off the beautifully decorated paper and opened it up. Inside were: a packet containing some Amish hairpins (I've always wanted to try these) as well as assorted sizes and colors of covered rubber bands. On the bottom of the box was a wonderful book entitled "Hair - a book of braiding and styles". Attached to the book was a box containing 2 velvet scrunchies and a beaded pony tail holder. I've already browsed through the book and found some ideas I'd like to try. I love that the book is 100% Klutz certified!
My Secret Santa is Sakina! Thank you SO much for all the goodies! I felt like a little kid all week knowing it was coming and finding it hard to wait. That made it so much more fun when it got here. Thanks again and may your holidays be your best ones ever. [smiley=dankk2.gif] |
