Title: I want SNOW! Post by bikerbraid on Dec 14th, 2006 at 11:02pm
OK, here I am, living in Minnesota, the land of winter. Yah, right..... it hit 50 degrees today!!!! :o I can't get in the Christmas mood with this weather.
So, for the rest of you who need a little winter, here's a snow globe to help. [an a little display of my warped sense of humor 8-) ] |

;D So Funny!! I love making them scream! Thanks BB.
I hope you get your snow. :) As for me, I really don't care if I ever see another snowflake ever! I get cold very easily so I dislike snow and cold very much. |

I grew up in southern Texas (Houston) and saw snow about three times in my life until I moved to New Jersey as an adult. Sure, it's pretty for the first day or so, when it is untouched. But when it lays there for days, and turns to muddy slop, I'd just as soon not!
In 2005 I hiked from March to May on the Appalachian Trail. Some of my best memories are hiking through the snow. Once (early in April) I even got turned back by the ranger in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Seems I (along with a group of others) was headed into a blizzard and didn't realize it. Went back to Fontana Dam and stayed the weekend, then headed out Monday morning. It was beautiful! But by the midweek, I was hiking in muddy slop and glad to get to Gatlinburg for a rest. After that, it was spring time on the trail till outside Erwin, Tennessee. A late spring snowstorm surprised everyone. Great times! Now I'm back in Texas. No snow in sight. Down here it is considered a miracle. |

Poor BB. It's kind of hard to believe that you're not getting snow in Minnesota in December! My goodness, what is it waiting for?
We got 6 inches of snow in the mountains here in one night...southern California of all places. Are there mountainous regions nearby that you can visit that have gotten snow already? That's just a bummer... |

BB, I thought we were supposed to get an ice storm today....Ick. And my area was supposedly going to be hit the hardest. But now I don't see it on weather.com. I'd give anything for regular old snow--esp. for Christmas--a 50% chance for tomorrow is not really good enough for me.

We have rain and sleet turning to snow in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. I'm not holidng my breath, the meterologists have been wrong too often this year. I'm afraid the storm will track too far south for us to get anything. :P :'(
I cannot believe Christmas is just days away and we still have green grass showing. |

Robin, I see a small storm on radar centered in Atlantic, Iowa heading due north. If it stays together, you could have your snow.
NOAA shows a 70% chance of snow Friday into Friday night, but 34 degrees. It may not stick. |

:D :D :D We got snow yesterday!!! :D :D :D
When it started to snow, they were the biggest flakes I've ever seen. Some were about 3 INCHES across!! :o We have about 3 inches on the ground, the trees are ice and snow covered. I FINALLY feel like Christmas can come. We might get another inch today and a bit on Christmas too. It will warm up during the day, but it doesn't look like we will lose all of it. Whoo hoo! Yippee! I'm jealous of my sister in Denver.... >:( They got all the snow. She's been home playing in it - can't get to work for 2 days. Maybe I should move to Denver..... :-/ |

Congrats Bikerbraid!!! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] Enjoy! Although, I've seen clips on the news of the recent snowfall in Denver. Are you sure you want THAT much snow? :)

YES!!!! I love the snow and yes, I have survived 2 and 3 foot snowfall storms - I look forward to them. Everything is so beautiful, clean and quiet (at least until the snowblowers start running 8-) ) |

Having grown up in Minnesota, I learned to appreciate the seasons. Winter with lots of snow brings back wonderful memories. Yep - bring on the snow!

Well, it's 5:30pm on Christmas Day. I think we're SOL for snow. :'( My daughter keeps asking where the snow is and why it isn't snowing. Her whole life she's been told that when the snow starts, it means Christmas is coming. And now that Christmas is here, she wants to know why the snow isn't. Poor girl...

I want snow too.
When I was a child, Christmas was always white, and it continued with a *real* winter until the end of March. You know: so cold that snow doesn't turn into cold, wet mush the next day but keeps piling up week after week. Snow that sparkles and turns the landscape into a fairytale land. Weather that is nice for wintersports like skiing and skating. Now that the greenhouse effect is kicking in it seems that we are losing such winters. This December was the warmest that Finland has ever experienced, though the past few years have not been much better. I have a daphne flowering on our front yard, and it's raining almost every day. Water. It's dark, cold and depressing. Things are not how they are supposed to be. Someone should start shipping people who don't believe that global warming is a fact, here. I WANT MY WINTER BACK!!! RIGHT NOW!!! [/rant] |

It's funny...last year (or maybe two years ago) I was grumbling that they should ship everyone who believes in global warming to Minnesota. It's always soooo cold. ;)
We just got tons of snow over New Year's Eve. The roads were so bad that we couldn't drive home that evening; we had to stay at my parent's house. On the way there my hubby went into a ditch and nearly hit a stopped car. Sadly, I was only 100 ft ahead of him, and didn't know he was following me. I left him behind. :'( Some nice truck driver helped him out of the ditch, and he met us at church. Then we went to get him new tires. ;) My girls are so excited to see the snow. Both yesterday and today they woke up screaming "It's Christmas, mommy!! There's snow outside!" and since we had guests yesterday they couldn't go out and play. This morning I told my daughter that she can play in the snow today; I thought her head would hit the ceiling from all the jumping. ;D |

Yep - we got about 4 - 5 inches of wet snow New Year's Eve. If the rain all day Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday morning had been snow, we would have received about 18" of snow. Oh well, at least we got enough to feel like winter.
Sorry your hubby slid off the road - hope the new tires work better for him. |
