Title: A Very Nice Little Discovery....
Post by Arcadian on Feb 8th, 2007 at 5:37am
For ages when I've been typing at the computer I've had my hair tied back, yet how I got into the habit to start with I've absolutely no idea.

I was pretty stressed out over the weekend on top of which the cursor had started leaping all over the screen a lot more than usual ! This was really weird to begin with but my ISP have uprated the speed of broadband recently or something like that and apparently it causes this to happen on older computers ? (Anyone else still using Windows 98 too ! ?)

Well by this time my hair had naturally started getting a bit loose and very impatiently I let it down and forgot about it. Then about 10 minutes later still in a mighty tizz about everything I noticed that I was furiously twirling the ends with both hands and pulling it this way and that !  >:( >:(

I remember carrying on twisting it around for a bit longer whilst trying to sort everything out, but slowly realised that not only had I forgotten all about the problem, but was happily somewhere in nowhere land as relaxed as a cat after a huge bowl of cream !  :) :)

Needless to say I make sure it's always down and loose now though whether my work will suffer have to wait and see !! But it is just so so relaxing and so very very very 8-) 8-) !!!!

Anyone else prefer it down for similar reasons ?

Sometimes when I crochet I prefer my hair down, too!  For some strange reason it's more relaxing to have it down, especially if I'm going to be crocheting for long periods at a time.  I hadn't really noticed the preference until you made mention of your situation!  Hope all is ok now with your computer! :)

I didn't give you a proper welcome when you joined, so   :)  Hello Arcadian, and welcome!
It is soothing, isn't it, being able to run fingers through long hair.  Almost like using a worry stone, or rubbing on a magic amulet.   8-)
--And you're not the only one still running Windows 98 (on the home pc).   :-[

Hi Trisha and thanks for the welcome  :)

It's amazingly soothing isn't it ? I never realized before!! So much so I'm starting to find it harder and harder to concentrate and twice I've had to tie it back when the phone rang !! And daily I’m feeling more and more like just curling up on the settee with a good book or a cuppa of something and just plain dreamin' !!

I don't know if anybody here who works in a busy office does this ? Most of the time I work from home so it's not a problem but I know it would be impossible for me with everyone rushing about. Not really something you see many doing in public either is it  ? Perhaps they’re only far too aware of the risks already !  :-?

Isn't it just a little bit risky too when crocheting ? Perhaps having to unpick all those stitches if you start to relax too much ?  ;)

Computer's ok thanks it's the cursor I'm really starting to feel for now !  ;D  Tires me out just watching the darn thing. Now if I could just find one with long hair that would be great then neither of us need get anything done !!  :)

Busy office receptionist at your service.  ;)  And I do the same thing.

Most of the time, I'm either on the phone or leaning over files, so I usually braid my hair to keep it out of the way at work. But somedays, I either forget to bring a hairtie or just don't feel like making yet another wonky, lopsided braid and just leave my hair down.
When that happens, however, I find it difficult to keep my hands out of it. lol I'll notice how soft my hair is and how long it's gotten, analyze how my current products are working, sometimes I'll end up combing it out right there at my desk. The only drawback is being interrupted so often. hehehe

Wonder what it would be like if everyone in the office from the top man or woman down loved long hair too ? :-?
