Title: Shower Filter
Post by zachsmom on Feb 28th, 2007 at 4:07pm
I have been reading alot about filters for your shower, and I am really interested in getting one.  We definitely have a problem with hard water, and I heard filters can help with that among other things such as reducing chlorine.  I was just wondering if anyone has ever purchased one and could make a recommendation.  I'm looking for one that is easy to install and also has a filter that is easy to change.  Thanks in advance for any recommendations anyone may have!:)

I don't have a quick answer for you.  I seem to remember that someone around here has a shower filter and thought it helped a lot.  Was it LaDiosa?  Hopefully someone will chime in with a good answer for you.

Unfortunately, I have never used a shower filter before, but I also think they sound like an excellent idea. Essential if you have problems with hard water in your area. If all else fails, perhaps you could use cost as an indication. Starting in the middle of the cost margin and moving up, if necessary, is usually a pretty reliable strategy.

If no one else makes a suggestion, then perhaps you'll have to be our guinea pig. lol Try something out and let us know how it works out for you. Then you'll be the one with the recommendations.  ;)

I purchased an Aquasana 2 stage shower filter  It was really easy to install (I did it myself) and I really like it.  I noticed softer skin and hair after using it.  It's funny, I just ordered my replacement filter today, it needs changed every 6 months.  I've never changed the filter before so I don't know if it's difficult or not, but I don't think it will be.

Here's the link.  http://www.aquasana.com/product.cfm?id=2  If you scroll down you'll see that it can be purchased with or without a hose.

Thanks La Diosa!  I checked out the site and as soon as I have the extra money I am going to make my purchase.  I can't wait.  I have heard what a difference the filters can make ,and I cannot wait to see for myself.  Thanks also for the mention about being able to buy one with a hose.  You must have read my mind.  I have a showerhead with a hose now, and I love it.  It makes cleaning my two year old and my shower a lot easier.  I let you know when I get it and try it.  Thanks Again! :)

You're welcome!  Yes, the hose makes life so much easier.  I hope you enjoy the filter! :D
