I came to school this morning and found out 3 of our students had withdrawn  :'(.  Their parents had decided to not attend church here anymore and took the kids outa school yesterday.  The older daughter had been having rebellious streaks for about a month now but it was the little boy who was happiest here.  He is small for his age group and the kids in public school werent exactly nice to him.  I felt sorriest for him.  Several other families have left the church also.  They will either homeschool their kids next year, or put them in public school.  It is really hard on kids to go from a Christian environment to public.  The rules are from one extreme to another.  I am very glad I am not a kid or a parent.  Life is tough enuf just being me.

I was raised Southern Baptist, and attended a private Baptist school until the middle of 4th grade when I went into the public school system.  I hated the strictness of the Baptist school, however I learned a ton and am greatful for the foundation I got.  Unfortunately the school was extreme in their religious teachings and that haunted me into my early 20's.

It is strange to go from one to the other, hopefully everyone will transition just fine.

I agree as well, I'm also glad not to be a child or a parent at this day and age in time.  But, I'm sure it gets worse with every generation.  When I was a kid I thought life was fine but I remember my grandparents would always say how it was safer years earlier, and that in their day, you didn't even have to lock your doors at night.  Hopefully something will change and things will become better again if that is at all possible. :-/

Sakina: I see we have yet another thing in common.  I also went to a private Catholic school from K-3rd grade.  I begged and pleaded to be transferred to public school for 4th grade and my parents reluctantly gave in.  It was a huge difference between the two schools, huge.  Although, I do feel that I benefitted from both environments.  Socially, I fit in better at public school but academically private school was better and it did provide a great foundation for me as well.

Yeah, a private school is usually better cuz the classes are smaller.  In my church school, grades 1-4 are together, and grades 5-12 are together.  They actually help each other.  We have maybe 50 kids from preschool thru 12th grade.  We also have 3-4 teachers in each classroom too.  I wish I was able to have gone to school here.  I mite have done better in school and maybe even liked it.  The rules here are stricter tho, but after seeing some of the effects of public school----the rules here are good.  I am hoping that the little boy got enuf of a foundation here that he can continue on and be alright.
