Title: Lift-me-up
Post by greek_lady on May 24th, 2007 at 4:32pm
Let's make a thread of "good" things.
Here we post one good thing for the day. Even if we had a bad day and all seems black or grey, if we stop and think a little, I am sure we will realise that at least one nice thing happened in our day. It doesn't have to be something big or mind shattering. It is often the little things that we value most.
So, if you feel like it, let's make this a lift-me-up thread.
Post your one good thing  :-* :)

I'll start.
I came home from a long-long day at work and my two nieces run to me, each one on each side and gave me a kiss  :-* on each cheek.  :)
That little thing made not only my day, my week, my month!!!

They finally got the weather forecast right ! A lovely evening right now, soft blue sky with high long swooping mare's tails everywhere, trees all clothed in rich spring green after so much rain .... such a wonderful moment full of deep pantheistic meaning ....

Sigh...  :) :)

My first swim of the year today! Even though the sea was agitated, I enjoyed once again the feeling of the water around me and playing with my nieces and the waves!

Today, when we got back from running errands, the yard was swarming with dragonflies so thickly that we almost couldn't get through to park the truck. Not only were they eating all the mosquitos ( ;D) they were the most beautiful dragonflies I've ever seen. Some were vivid blue, some were green enough to match the leaves and grass, some were almost solid black, but they all had wings the color that gold would be if you could pound it so thin it was transparent.

I just returned from a wonderful weekend of camping with my hubby, son, and daughter-in-law.    Hubby and I celebrated our 33 years of marriage, and our son and DIL their 3rd anniversary.  We are blessed!

Congratulations, BB!!!!!!! in today's society, 33 years of marriage is absolutely fantastic, and a role model for everyone. may you and your husband (and son and DIL)  have many many more years of happiness together.

My lift me up for today = My BF isn't seriously injured and should heal well and swiftly.

I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend Trisha! :)

Congrats Bikerbraid, 33 years wow! :o  Good for you! :)

It's been rainy and a bit chilly out this morning and I don't have to go outside.  Instead I can sit here at my computer while sipping a cup of sinfully chocolaty hot chocolate.

2 good things for today.

1.) My arms are healing. Today I graduated to cleansing with a washcloth (a few days ago, even washing them by hand made me scream).

2.) My boy.  :)  He makes me glow on the inside and that's the best feeling ever.

Lift me up for yesterday: We went and checked out the loft apartment that the guy was calling a townhouse... It's beautiful and definately available!! and when we got home, A pretty almost solid black moth landed on my face and rode around on my glasses for about 15 mnutes.

A friend of mine is going through her things and giving away everything she doesn't need, and gave me a boatload of shoes today. Some really cute boots, and some gorgeous heels.  The reason she's breaking down the household sucks( several terminal ilnesses) but she's keeping more positive than I've ever seen anyone.

Last month the post office lost my uninsured mail order return to Victorias Secret.  I figured all was lost but decided to call Victorias Secret today, just to see if it had somehow shown up.  They said it hadn't but they would mail a merchandise certificate to me anyway because I had a delivery confirmation number to prove that I did send a package to them.  That made me so happy! :D

Happy day, the garage that I have been drywalling is almost done....mudding and sanding is done, just priming and painting left.  Hard stuff is done.  Thank God!!!

I'm in hairtoys' heaven now! A shipment of a different kind of hairsticks AND a huge swap shipment with sticks and goodies both arrived today! Yeahhh
A day that started off really ugly and painful had a note of optimism at its end. I am thankful for that :D

Title: Re: Lift-me-up

Technically, we don't.
SoCal only has 2 seasons: summer and not. The latter of which lasts maybe 3-4 months out of the year. The autumnal equinox just happens to fall on the 23rd of September this year. 'Twas all I meant.
*sigh* I wish we got the full range of real seasons here...but we aren't any better off than you poor folks in LA.  :(  Well...much less humid in the desert, of course.  :P

Title: Re: Lift-me-up
Post by Kiraela on Jun 30th, 2007 at 5:06pm
well, yeah that's pretty much the season pattern here... hot and wet, or cold and wet. well, it's not really cold, but it feels it due to the fact that it's a soaking, deep bone chill. Frankly, whoever decided to settle louisiana must have been out of their gourd.  ::)

Hmm - could swap with you for a while I think if you're seriously looking for real seasons !!  ;D

I've lost count of the number of seasons we've had in June alone ! The thermometer's green with moss and vertigo, the barometer's on overtime and the cloud base is now 100 foot down in the next village !  ;D This last week alone our area near Cornwall has had floods, power failures, homes flooded and evacuated, and nonstop rain with daytime temps struggling to reach 60, nighttimes barely 45-50, so all our summer swallows and swifts have given up and are now more or less in hibernation. Haven't seen them for ages poor things, probably shivering like crazy all the time. Finally the heating's off till October so I'm sitting here with a winter jersey on, heavy jeans and 2 pairs of winter socks ! Then April was almost the hottest on record when the heating was still full on so anything please for a bit of peace and quiet  ! All that's left is a snowstorm to round things off nicely !

Still interested ?  ;)

Oh and the river's rising again....

lol Arcadian. You're on. I'd gladly take all of that over heat exhaustion, sunburns, UV poisoning, dehydration, not being able to venture outdoors until after sunset, etc. etc.  ;)

Even us northerners have only 2 seasons - winter and road construction.  However, the road construction season does have a variety of temperatures!  ;D
