Title: Hair Dream Post by Trisha on Aug 13th, 2007 at 11:24am
Last night I had a snippet of a dream where I went to a salon and had my hair cut short...SHORT-short. :o I wanted it cut short, and was happy to have it cut short! :o :o
I was conscious of dreaming and remember thinking, "Wow, I'm getting my hair cut...I should be upset! --But I'm not...how bizarre!" I wonder what it means?? :-? |

"To dream that you are cutting your hair, suggests that you are experiencing a loss in strength. You may feel that someone is trying to censor you. Alternatively, you may be reshaping your thinking or ambitions and eliminating unwanted thoughts/habits."
The above snippet comes from http://www.dreammoods.com/ INTERESTING!! |

Sounds more like a nightmare to me. :o
Personally, I put dream analysis right up there with astrology on the bs meter. So I guess it could mean whatever you want it to mean. |

Trisha,
Sounds like a nightmare to me as well! How long is your hair now? That would probably be a drastic change for you! Jim |

Well, if the definition that the site Trisha found was true (of me at least) I would be shaving my head everytime I went into rem sleep each night. I have definately lost my strenght, been censored by my hubby for months (split now) and an changing my thinking about all the things mentioned. Thank God it isn't so!!
My ex was a recovering alchoholic and when he was stressed (even after being sober many, many years) he would dream he drank again...and willingly. He would wake up in a sweat. I think a better explanation (rather than abstract stuff) is that when we really work for and want something, the fear of losing it...even at our own willing hand...can show up in our dreams. I also believe that it is human nature to think of things that are in our control when things outside of our control are taking over our lives with regard to stress. Think of anorexics and belimics, they feel the only thing they can control is their own bodies and so they ultimately end up destroying the only thing they do have control over because they obsess and get a false image (the world says I should always be better so I MUST be thinner...). Trish, are you under stress right now? As I recall from your journal, you are. If you are feeling you have no control over the things in your life, maybe this nightmare is nothing more than the recovering alcoholic nightmare. Not to say it wasn't awful... Disclaimer: I am (nor is the real Joey Dog) not a psychiatrist and am only speculating. Hope you don't dream it again and that you have sweet dreams tonight. JD |

Blondestorm, my hair is almost waist length so cutting at this point would be a major thing. :)
JD...your question made me pause and think: "Trish, are you under stress right now?" Believe it or not, I didn't think of myself as being under stress. But, geez...I overcame cancer in 2003. My husband has not been able to work in 3 years, so money is tight. Hubby has been through 2 major surgeries just this year. My daughter has moved away from home. My stepson, my brother-in-law, my sister, my inlaws...dear Lord, the list could go on and on. No wonder I'm feeling tired and having odd dreams!!! :o Thanks, seriously, for taking off my blinders. *hugs* |
