Title: cleaning out the storeage-room.... a mini rant Post by Kiraela on Sep 3rd, 2007 at 10:34pm
I swear, Paul never met a computer part he didn't like... and keep... and lose somewhere...
I took on the task of cleaning/reorganizing the storage room today... and so far, I've found three wooden crates, full of random, probably non-functional computer parts... these are 1'X1'X1' cube crates... that's not including the box containing nothing but speakers, and so far, 11 computer keyboards. yes. Eleven. WHO THE HECK HAS ELEVEN KEYBOARDS??? there are also at least four computer monitors that AREN'T hooked up to anything, along with two, one on my now defunct computer, and the one I'm viewing this on... The scary part? I'm only half way through this junk pile... and he WONDERS where all his tools go................. :o ::) |

The cure for this is moving. You let him deal with the computer stuff, and he will get so frustrated with all the junk that he will ditch it rather than deal with it. Now, of course, this only works if you steadfastly refuse to deal with the computer equipment AT ALL. It also helps if there is another reason for moving. And of course, it really helps if he is a control freak who would never want you to mess his stuff in the first place.

Oh honey.
Years ago, I was married to a computer programmer. We literally had defunct pieces lying all over the apartment - all of which he swore were necessary and "could" potentially be "very useful someday," especially when he finally got around to this project or that project or the other. ::) He even rented out a storage space for some of it! Yeah, my solution was to lose the guy. Haven't had to worry about scary-old computer crap since. I have a sleek, shiny new laptop and it's all I need. If you're feeling particularly daring, you might consider packing all of it into boxes, donating it and then claiming to not have any idea as to its whereabouts. Although, that could result in him going out and spending ridiculous amounts of green on new computer stuff that will eventually take over. Guys are slobs, K. Think of what your Paul's house would look like if he lived alone. :o |

I would say it is a 'man thing' since I am a pack rat myself but I am sure there are ladies out there who can be just as bad :P
For example, my wife likes to collect stuffed animals and we have them everywhere and a lot in storage because our small apartment won't hold every single one of them. It does not bother me because I have my CD, DVD and video tape collections ::) My main problem is that I am too afraid to throw things out because I am afraid the minute I do is the minute I am going to need it :-[ Jerry |
