Just wanted to introduce myself! I had super long hair (down to my waist) all though childhood and high school (everyone would always want to braid it in school). Then I cut it to a bob in college, then pixie cut (very very short) after that. In the last few years, I have let it grow out again. Friends who had only seen me with short hair thought I looked so much younger with the longer hair!

Right now my hair goes down to mid-back, and is very healthy. I am turning 36 soon and am pretty salt & pepper with grays at my temples, so I have recently (last few months) started to dye my hair with henna. I'm into herbs, so at first I tried sage & rosemary to dye the grays, but that didn't work very well. Then I tried another recipe that I found, which uses Darjeeling tea and tobacco, which worked pretty well, but it worried me to use tobacco on my scalp. So then I tried Rainbow henna, which worked very nicely. Then I tried Catherine's henna at www.hennaforhair.com, that worked nicely too but made my husband and I sneeze every time, so now I'm back to Rainbow brand. I'd still like to use something herbal if it would work. It would be cool to be able to grow the herbs myself! :)

I found this forum when I was looking for fun hairstyles. I'm petite, and I like doing cute little anime-type buns and cute little braids, and I'm always looking for more ideas. My hair is very thick and rather straight, so it is very hard to use hairsticks, my hair slips right out of them.

Do you have any new length goals? I hope you'll post some pics of your anime styles, I love anime!!

Have you tried Amish hairpins? I can't get my hair to hold with hairsticks only, so I use typically 5 hairpins in a pentacle shape and then add my sticks to decorate.

Yes, the anime buns are pretty fun - I always get lots of nice comments when I wear them! They make me look fun and youthful. In fact, they made me get carded the other day (and I'm turning 36!!) :-)
