Yep,  as of last friday, I am now jobless  :'(.  Seems like here lately I cant find or hold onto a job.  I just dont know what is wrong with me.  I got a "glowing recommendation" in writing, but that doesnt pay the bills.  I am tired of not getting anywhere.  All of the bills for October are paid and I have enuf money saved for November, even the trip to my Aunts for Thanksgiving.  I am hoping to get another job in the next few days soo I dont have to use up my savings.  Sorry for the rant.

Thanx Sakina,  I just know God has a plan and a purpose, but I get anxious.  I know He is going to bless me financially, but I have to wait on Him, and I dont wait well  ::).  O well, back to the ol' drawing board.

Age discrimination is alive and well. I found this out when my wife was unemployed for a while. She went through many temp jobs, but nothing permanent. Meanwhile her unemployment ran dry and we can't make it on what I make. She felt really down and scared.

She would get countless interviews but when they saw her, that was pretty much it.
Was it the long grey hair?
Was it that she is shorter?
Was it that she was aproaching 50?
Who knows. She spent 30 years with the same company before the 5th generation ran it in the ground. She knows how to do a billion office skills and even can do sales.

It was something else. I feel it was her age and the fact she didn't conform to the certain 'look' for her age? It couldn't be her typing skills or phone skills which are leaps ahead of any new college grad.

Moving on:
Finally, after being rejected for yet one more job, a certain HR person saw something in her and re-called her to see if she would accept a different position. It was the only job offer she got during this ordeal. It turned out the manager of that department liked the work ehtics and attendance records of older women who don't take off ever other day for kid activities and kid sick days. It turns out the loves this job and it was a perfect fit for her.

Moral: Your perfect fit hasn't happened yet. Have faith. It will.

I agree, that's awful. But don't you believe for a split second that it is because there is something wrong about you.

I hope things will turn out better for you soon.

Thank you all of you.  Yes, Rodent I am beginning to think it is an "age thing."  I turned 55 2 weeks ago.  I have been turning in apps but noone has contacted me yet.   I know there isnt anything wrong with  me. If I dont work soon not only will my small savings run out but I will become very depressed  :'(.  Then I'll get scared.  Winter is coming on fast here.  My church will not kick me out of the house where I live (I rent from them).  But everything else could be come yucky.  Thanks everyone for listening.

Thanx Curlgirl.  Today has been kinda hard, cuz I felt as tho the walls were closing in so I left the house.  Where did I go? ahhh---but to the mall where I saw things I would like to have but alas---no money.  O' well I'll wait on God and TRY to be patient.
