I was at Walmart with my mom today.  Mom has a bad leg so she has one of those handicapped stickers that I put on my rear view mirror.  We park in the handicap stalls.  Well, as I was helping mom get into the car, some women started honking her for me to hurry up so she could have the spot.  Mom is well--handicapped, she moves slower than some people want her too.  This person also has a handicap sticker but was REAL impatient, she kept honking, I smiled and wavved at her, what else could I do?  I had the legal right to be parked there, but I guess the honker didnt think so.  Some people.

I've noticed that the winter holiday season tends to bring that out in people. People who are, for 11 months of the year, the sweetest, kindest being you'd ever want to meet... for that period of time between thanksgiving and new years, become the absolute ragingest b*tches on earth. As if their holiday shopping is far more important than your grocery shopping, or whatever it is that you're doing. Its as if the fact that they're out gathering crap for people they don't even like, is far more important than your very existance.

Anyway, sorry the woman was so rude.*hugs* don't worry, it'll be over in a few weeks.

Oh my!  :o I can't imagine what was going thru that woman's brain (if she had one)!  The handicapped parking spots are there as a convenience - they are not an entitlement!  Shesh!  I would assume that most everyone that uses the handicpped spots are probably a bit slower than the average person.  I've used handicapped stickers for myself, my mother, my MIL and my grandfather.  Believe me - we were ALL slow at getting into and out of our cars!

You and your mother were doing nothing wrong - your response was the correct one - acknowledge the person and continue on with what you were doing.  No reason to hurry on her part.  :P
