What are your favorite songs? They do not have to be in any particular order, just what you might think of off the top of your head or you can just write them down and then post them here if you want.
My favorite of favorites is Peace Sells by Megadeth Others that I like are: Blackened by Metallica Money, Money, Money by ABBA Eclipse Of The Heart by Bonnie Tyler Wake Up Dead by Megadeth Jump Around by House Of Pain Insane In The Brain by Cypress Hill Lose Yourself by Eminem I Was Made For Loving You by Kiss Nightcrawler by Judas Priest I will have more later... I like songs that are catchy, but I think my favorites are the ones that state a basic truth somewhere.
Billy Joel is pretty good about that. But so are many others. "They're sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it's better than drinkin' alone." "You may be right. I may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for." And my all-time favorite, not by BJ but the Eagles, "I cain't complain, but sometimes I still do." |

Across the Board- 1973- Grace Slick -banned by most radio at the time.
Ashes are Burning - 1975 - Annie Haslem & Rennasaince- live version is best, 22 min and 4 octaves of vocals. This is my current favorite. School's Out- 1972- Alice Cooper White Rabbit - 1968- Jefferson Airplane Highway Star- early 70's- Deep Purple Inagaddadavida- 1968- Iron Butterfly- full version 17 min. Get Ready- Rare Earth- 60's= live version 30 min. is best Full version 17 min is good. Goldfinger- 1964- SHirley Bassey Celebration- mid 80's Joe Satriani (sp), NOT the one most heard played at weddings and such. This is a hard metal instrumental rarely if ever played onthe radio. The only thing in common is the name. Love is Blue- 1968 instrumental Still Loving You- Hard driving ballad by the Scorpions- 1984 Down, Down - Status Quo- 196x Carol of the Bells- all versions O Holy Night - versions by the Morman Tabernacle Chior and the one by Charlotte Church. The vocalist with the choir is simply stunning. Anything by 'It's a Beautiful Day'. 409 - Beach Boys Incense and Pepperment- 1968- Strawberry Alarmclock Short list. I appreciate great soprano voices and hard driving keyboard and guitar instrumentals. I don't like rap or disco, yet Yvonne Ellerman had a great voice (wasted on disco). I like country if it's old time bluegrass on banjos and fiddles. Not current contemporary country. I'm not into jazz but sometimes it's not bad. Quiz: How many on my short list has anyone actually heard? Most of it is hippie era or early 70's but for some reason the mid 80's produced some good music. |

I counted ten of them and I have pretty much all of them on CD one way or another.
I noticed out of my collection most of the music I like are from the 80's (mainly late 80's). Jerry |

Hmm. I could write out my list of favorite songs, but honestly, it changes from one hour to the next. I guess, though, in no particular order,
* sarajevo 12/24 by trans siberian orchestra(loud, angry guitar driven carol of the bells/god rest ye merry gentlemen hybrid, I reccomend you go find it. it is yay.) * I still lost(or, really, any song), by Dommin (I was friend requested by them on myspace a few weeks ago, took one listen and I've not played anything else since.. I just bought the CD(The first cd I've bought in over a year) (in this regard, I envy Angel Spun, since she's close enough to go see them perform if she wished. darn Cali types. )) *the old ways, by Loreena McKennitt(either the original version, or the version on the live CD...one has harp, the other is faster paced and has a better beat) *My Immortal, by evanescence. also taking over me, bleed, and um.. a really long list. some of their songs are kinda... wimpy, I guess? but most are love. I have every evanescence song ever released, so :D *Theywalk, by Torrent Vaccine(a local one man band comprising Brad Vaccine, a cool guy, great musician, has a pretty cat.(a friend of ours)) *Cursive Lie, by I:Scintilla(not much to say about this one... just... I love it) I'm sure there's about 154,325 songs I'm forgetting, but that's a good short list off the top of my head. Dommin, I:Scintilla and torrent vaccine can be accessed through myspace(all three are on my top friends list) |

Jerry! :o
Wouldn't it be easier to list what you don't like? You seem to like everything out there. New list: what you can't be near when playing. For Rodent: 1. Rap. I actually walked out of a wedding reception last summer when the DJ started playing several rap things in succession. 2. Disco. I think Rap is the modern version of disco. Boom boom boom. no talent. 3. Modern Contemporary Country. Outside of real bluegrass, country pretty much sucks. But the right combo of banjo, harmonica, and fiddle is a real treat. Think Granpa Jones or Hee Haw. |

I do like a lot of songs but not everything ::)
I enjoy doing lists but you know that from TLHS guestbook. Besides, I could always make a thread for songs people don't like :P Jerry |
Title: Re: Favorite songs Post by La Diosa on Mar 12th, 2008 at 2:19pm
That would be a good thread, Jerry. Although off of the top of my head, the only song that I can think of that I really don't like is My Humps from the Black Eyed Peas. Actuallly, I don't like anything that Fergie puts out. :P
