We had a rare 8" heavy snowfall Saturday and Sat. night. Therefore, I have pictures this year of the display in a deep snow. Actually, much is covered. The last snow of this magnitude was Dec. 24, 2002, (12 inches). The most ever in my lifetime was the Blizzard of '82, 22 inches, which shut the city down for 3 full days.

I added some pictures of my basement. After tearing everything apart to fix the foundation walls, I have some of it put back together, but am currently out of funds to finish.

There is the library and it's panoramas, the Manger scene, marching band, model cars, and the Christmas Eve doll room. They need finishing, ie, sky painted, woodwork in the doll room, ect. The cars will have a city and buildings painted behind them. The basement stays decorated all year because I love the Christmas season.

And last, the yard model I use to program how the yard will move to music when the main brain comes back inside for the season. Yes, Christmas lighting is a serious condition for Dr. Rat, Ph. D.

Wow. I still can't even fathom how snow gets that...deep! And just piles on everything in huge amounts. I have never seen snow like that in real life.  :o

it was 76F today. I don't think we're getting snow for christmas.

Big sis, I've seen snow that deep. It's very pretty, and really quite nice. For about 20 minutes. Then it sucks again. Well, unless you're a true winterchild. then it's nice for an hour, and you end up with frost bite. :D I lived in maine for two winters, maybe I was just in nasty snow territory. We didn't even get snow days for anything less than 8". GRR. Very nice display though, Dr. Rat. Sort of reminds me of a neighbor of mine back in virginia, only... yours is quite nice looking, rather than tacky and horrible. :D

Maine, wow. It does get really cold up there! Lucky you, though, little sis. I've lived in one state my whole life.  :P

True winter child? Hmm...born in January, prefer rain to sun and darkness to light, prefer Seattle over San Diego, would rather see gray skies than blue. Yup, count me a true winter child.  ;)  I'd love to get snowed in just once...call me crazy.

February, but otherwise the same... one of the few good things about moving is seeing new places and meeting differen types of people... really though, moving frequently when you're in school absolutely sucks. As soon as I started making friends somewhere, we'd be off to the next state. : / And well, I don't make friends that easily anyway. I was painfully shy as a child, and I'm still not comfortable around people I don't know well, so.... yeah. it kinda sucked.

I've had all of the getting snowed in that I can take in a lifetime.  Snow is pretty to look at for about an hour (like Kiraela said ;)) but I can live without it.  I remember a blizzard we had in Pittsburgh that was so bad that, that the snow was piled up against our doors (which pushed out to open) so high that we couldn't open them to get outside.  I had to climb out of the living room window and shovel the snow away from the door so that my mother could get out of the house.:P

Although one time, the snow was piled up so high on our roof that my sister and I were able to reach out my bedroom windows and grab snow to make snowballs.  That of course resulted in us having a snowball fight in my bedroom, that was really fun! ;D

I've lived in Minnesota most of my life - I LOVE winter.  I love the snow - I wish we would have more!  I don't mind the cold as long as it stays warmer than -10F (-25C?).  We usually have enough snow that we need to shovel or rake it off the roof a few times each winter.  Shoveling is a form of exercise we all get used to.  I love to breathe in the fresh, cold air.  Ok, I admit it - I'm a winter junkie!

I tell people it is not cold or freezing until you breathe hard through your nose and your nostrils stick together ::)
