Title: Odd itchy patch, with questions
Post by DiamondPink on Feb 7th, 2008 at 11:40am
Years ago, I had what my doctor called "alopecia", in that my forehead and a bit of scalp itched furiously, and tore easily. He put me on nutrients and I improved. However, I have always still had a weird patch right at my hairline in the center, that still itches and flakes. Nothing has ever worked to stop it, (H&S, etc.). My stylist has never seen anything either. Has anyone ever heard of this? I've been growing my hair out, finally made it to waist-length, and it does grow really fast. If anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi DiamondPink, this reply is going to sound very strange but here goes.  Have you ever tried Preparation H on the patch?  I do that on my skin.  Totally clears it up.  I have psoriasis on my skin and scalp. Yes, I have used it my hair line.  Since my scalp is really breaking out, I just might try it there too.  If you decide to try this, remember to apply it lightly as it can get greasy.  But it works wonders.  I used it twice a day until the patches cleared up.  Now I use once day after I wash my face.  It has an odor at first, but that wears off. I have also used products with 1% cortisone.  They worked but not as effectively or quickly.

One of the benefits to using Prep H on my face has been younger looking, smoother skin.  I am 55, but I definitely don't look it.  I have been using for over 10 years.  So, my skin looks at tho it is in its early forties.  No wrinkles yet.  Hope this helps.
